Well if it has a removable lens you can take the lens off and just put a new bulb in but if it does not have a removable lens then you must replace the headlight assembly
Locate the two headlight lens assembly retaining screws at the top of each side of the assembly.
Remove each screw with the ratchet and a suitable socket.
Place the screwdriver behind the lens assembly to assist in prying out the guide pins that secure and align the headlight assembly. Hold the lens assembly from the outside edge (marker light/directional light section) first and pry from behind with the screwdriver to unseat the guide pins. Pry from the inside end of the lens assembly to unseat the other guide pin.
Pull the lens assembly out far enough to reach behind it and disconnect the headlight bulb wire harness from the back of the bulb. Or simply remove the bulb by twisting the harness and retaining ring counterclockwise and remove it as an assembly.
Turn the marker light/directional light socket and wire counterclockwise to remove it from the headlight lens assembly.
Remove the assembly from the front of the Stratus.
Apply light pressure to the headlight lens to hold the headlight in place while disconnecting the retainers.
Lift up the headlight retainers to release the housing.
Remove the headlight assembly, pulling straight forward from the headlight mounting panel.
NOTE: Note the location and position of the adjuster retainers and locator tab.
Disconnect the wiring harness from the headlight assembly.
Rotate the bulb(s)/socket(s) as needed counterclockwise to release.
Remove the bulb(s)/socket(s) from the headlight assembly.
To Install:
Install the replacement bulb(s)/socket(s) to the headlight assembly rotating clockwise until fully seated.
Connect the wiring harness to the headlight assembly.
Position the headlight assembly to the mounting panel.
Apply light pressure to the headlight assembly lens to hold the assembly in place while installing the retainers.
Align the headlight assembly retainers and slide them over the assembly mounting tabs
The bulbs are replaceable without removing the headlight lens. Open hood and look behind the headlight lens. You can twist the black round housing holding the bulb socket counter-clockwise and remove bulb with socket. remove bulb thru collar. Install new bulb (DO NOT TOUCH THE GLASS PART WITH YOUR FINGERS). Reconnect.
Hi there, together with providing you the solution to the problem, I also took the liberty of going one step further in giving you steps on how to remove the headlight bulb.
Find the hood release handle and activate it, the hood should pop open.
Once the hood is popped open locate the hood secondary or safety latch and release it. Then finish opening the hood.
Locate and remove mounting clips for any plastic shields that cover the headlight lens mounting screws or clips.
Some headlight bulbs can be replaced by simply grasping the bulb socket behind the headlight lens and turn it counter clockwise to remove it. This will expose the headlight bulb.
If the headlight bulb socket is not accessible the headlight lens may need to be remove or obstructions behind the bulb removed to gain access to the headlight bulb socket.
To remove the headlight lens remove all mounting screws and clips that hold the headlight lens in place.
After the headlight housing has been removed from it's mounts, release the headlight bulb from the headlight lens housing (turn counter clockwise) the bulb will then come out of the headlight assembly. Once removed, visually verify that the replacement bulb is exactly the same as the failed bulb before to ensure a proper repair.
Clean the headlight lens free from all debris to help maintain the seal from the bulb to the lens. This will keep moisture out of the lens.
Install the new headlight bulb by turning the retainer ring or bulb clockwise.
Re-install the headlight lens housing and reinstall electrical connector.
Re-install plastic covers.
After the job is complete turn the ignition key to the "on" position and activate the headlight switch. Observe the newly replaced headlight bulb to ensure proper operation.
The procedure is as follows:---First you need to open the hood and twist the bulb socket out from the lens.1)Remove the screws retaining the headlight and trim assembly. 2)Carefully rotate the headlight and trim assembly away from the vehicle, rotating the inboard side away from the vehicle. 3)Remove the side marker, parking and turn signal bulbs and sockets from the headlamp and trim assembly. They can be removed by turning them. 4)If replacing a lens, remove the retaining screws for the lens to be changed and remove it from the headlight door. ---------Thanks.Helpmech.
Probably not a lens cover at all. It's just a 1 piece plastic headlight. It you are wanting to replace a bulb , they go in from the back . Open the hood and you should be able to see where the wires to the bulb go in the back of the headlight.
