SOURCE: 2005 crf 70(throttle govenor)??

an inexpensive way is to restrict full movement of the carburator cam (where the throttle cable enters) mechanically, to 75% throttle or whatever

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initial checks:

  • check for spark on the sparkplug when starting;
  • check that fuel is reaching the combustion chamber (sparkplug would be wet);
  • check for engine compression.

Postback results.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.

My crf 100 wont start it seems like its not sparking. i got a new spark plug and i dont see no spark what do i do i wanna ride

Be sure that the handlebar and side stand kill switches are off. Have a friend kick the bike over ( in neutral ) while you ground the bottom of the plug against the cylinder. Without being grounded, the plug can't spark. Don't twist the throttle more than once when starting. You can easily flood the engine.

04 crf 450 starts hard most times we have to push start it but after that it starts fairly easy.

crf honda's run titanium valves which wear out very quickly if valve clearances not checked very regularly. what happens is the valve wears on its sealing face and clearances close up and then valve rides and looses compression,much like a leaking tap. bike will make more compression and valves will try to seal when warm. i probably rebuild one of these bikes a week with this problem. get it to your dealer and have clearances done. you can get stainless steel valve conversion kits which are much cheaper than honda titanium valves.

My bike wont start, changed the spark plug and fuel, it will bump start but then cut out again. any ideas?

Since it starts and thn cuts off, it shows tht there is sparks and some fuel do go through to the combustion chamber.
You may need to clean the carburator, theres no enough fuel flow to it and thus the none start and whn it does it cuts off!
Hope this helps!

My crf died on me while racing and on a flat straight! it had just had the shims done the day before but was stil not startin properly, \r\ni thought problem might of been spark plug but i have replaced...

gonna have to pull the head if something is hitting the park plug. check and make sure the proper head gasket is installed and that you are running the proper spark plug. also when you have the plug out put your thumb on the hole and have someone kick it, the pressure should force your thumb off the hole, if it doesnt, its time to redo the top end.

How do i adjust my carb for my honda crf 70 its either

To know if it is too rich or too lean or if its ok , you will have to remove the spark plug i.e. after a short run.
If the spark plug is blackish sooty thn its rich, if its totally whitish thn its lean, if is brownish, its ok.

To adjust this you will need to set the air-mixture screw. Tighten it all the way in slowly taking care not to overt tighten it as you may damage the tip of the screw, thn unscrew it 2 &h alf to 3 turns outwards, start your bike's engine and monitor, you may thn go either way alittle to suit the idling.
Best would be to replace the saprk plug.
Hope this helps!

sounds like piston rings gone/con rod broken, 2/4 stroke? stupid question but did you check the spark plug/s? if missing/blown off will cause low compression,
