just bought an rmz 250. 2004 model. it supposedly ran fine when parked 10 months ago, but now wont kickstart. pushstarts ok, but still wont idle.(dies when let off of throttle). i put in fresh gas, and cleaned the float bowl. blew out the jets too.
im thinkin maybe the valve adjustment, or maybe the jetting???
i would greatly appreciate some input. thank you!

i have little respect for safes that use batteries ever since i heard many can be "bumped" to open them. bumping is little more than one hand on handle to open safe and one hand holding a mallet (hard rubber to protect finish) then hit safe from different angles while gently trying to turn handle to open position. it's same principle as opening a pin tumbler with an oscillating device (VI- BRAY - TOR). takes a soft touch and a little patience until you get feel of technique then will be easy in just a few seconds.... Telling us the model/manufacture might be a good idea too
Your front end alignment was not done correctly or was incomplete. You must return it to where the alignment was done and tell them they have to fix it. They just did not do it right and must finish the job until it is good and doesn't do these things when they drive it to check it out. Don't let them get away with no completing the job you paid them to do.
have u tried turning the engine over slow for about three to four turns with the kick starter then kick it once or twice hard ..it should start...dont give it any throttle...floods easy
You red line this bike don't you? The first thing to start going on a cam is the bearings. Change bearings and run the bike for about 30 hours at 1000rpm and let it break in, then change the oil and hit it hard. It will last longer.Might want to look in the crankcase too and see if there is metal shavings there too. You may need to change the rod bearings. But either way you are on the curve of burning up your engine.
The rmz and kxf 250 2004-05 is a shame for both suzuki and kawasaki, they worked together to create a 4 stroke engine but failed. The first thing to brake is the waterpump. So everybody has to buy a new waterpump, but not the original one because it was a failure, they all broke and some motors got destroyed. The second thing is the valves and you can mostly reshim them once and then you would have to buy new ones that will also fail after a little use.The last thing that i know of is the camsaft, both the camsaft and valves are weak and wont tolerate any heat and you cant really ride the bike like a real offroad bike. This is my personal experience. When i bought my bike, everything in the motor had been replaced. Probably because the waterpump failed.Nothing was wrong with it and it was great, great in cold starts and the motor ran great. But after 2 rides 10 hours tops it was hard to start, so i went to the suzuki dealers and they checked the time, set the carbonator and reshimmed the valves. The motor ran for 5 minutes and then was just the same as before. Then they told me that i would have to get new valves. But then i went to check around and everyone that i asked something about these bikes said that i should have asked them before i bought the bike so they could have told me that these bikes will never work properly. And here in iceland it's better for me to throw my bike away and buy a new one, a bike that is not older then 2006. Its costs 250 dollars just to reshim the valves and set the carbonator.New valves cost around 520 dollars and the suzuki dealership takes around 280 dollars for the work of installing the new ones.
bad starting is down to damp in the electricks give every thing a good spray with WD40 that should sort out the problem as for the card its not to hard to adjust the settings but its limited to how far you can take it
sounds like maybe valves were shimmed too tight, check service manual for clearances...better a little loose than too tight, can cause alot of damage to cam & head,be careful!!
Put in a new spark plug and check plug wire connections and ECM ground connections.
You probably have weak spark and when bump started the plug sparks strong enough to run the engine.
A weak battey can also cause this. Your ECM needs a minimum of 9V to work. (the ECM gives spark and timing) When kicking over, there is not enough volts to spark. When bumping over the alternator provides the extra volts to start the bike.
Have never heard of the pin shearing from a little bump chrysler double sided ignition cylinders usally start haveing problems at about 100,000 miles or so earlier if you have a bulky have key ring i would suggest spraying the inside of the cylinder with spray lubricant wd-40 I like tri flow little more exspensive but worth the money last a lot longer the run the key in and out very rapidly a few time let it sit a moment and the take pressure off wheel and try and turn the key
