Belt replacement bekt broke need directions for new nbelt

So long as rest of engine is fine there is no problem with just changing the timing chain. Some engines have a timing bekt which if it breaks when the engine is running can cause major damage to engine, I have seen a piston stuck into a bonet caused by a broken timing belt.

The bekt routing should be indicated on a sticker in the engine area

first put pulley onto blower fan housing i think you have to counter clock turn to put the pulley by hand. put you one hand inside the blower housing and hold the fan then use pliers and tight the pulley. now put belt on motor pulley first then put belt on blower's pulley it is hart to put on so little belt on pulley and use other hand and turn fan from inside so blower's pulley turn and belt get to pulley. last tight the pulley again. turn fan by hand to make sure belt run ok. hope it will help you.

Your Dakota does not have a timing belt, it has a timing chain. Chains do not have a regular service interval. Usually they are only replaced when worn, typically they get noisey from worn chain guides but seldom break.

There is a distinct possibilty there is engine damage caused when the belt broke. It is best not to turn the engine at all once this happens. Sometimes you can be lucky and there be no damage. Let's hope that's so in your case. These belts are supposed to be replaced every 100,000km.

what was it doing when the belt broke.... most times you just have the belt replaced and everything is fine.

I dont think you broke the belt, I think it may have just come off the belt tensioner. Take the bottom of the back panel off and I think you will see it hanging in there. Just put er back on.
