Drain engine oil and replace oil filter(your local automotive store will have a book telling you what oil filter you need to buy). You've probably been using a multi-grade 10-30 or 10-40 weight oil. Or a straight 30 weight oil. Regardless, replace that oil with one grade heavier, single-weight of oil. During warm months, use 40 weight; in the winter (depending on how far the mercury dips in your part of the country) use 20 or 30 weight. Slightly thicker oil won't hurt that worn engine, and if your battery is good, it'll turn over fast.

Hello Everyone, I am in need of some advise here, I have a 1995 Corolla, and THIS IS MY FIRST CAR, so I dont know mucch about cars, though I am very enthusiastic to learn about them. so I would like to...

The general rule is to change your oil and filter every 3000 miles, some heavy duty oils say 5000 miles. If you want to be sure go 3000 miles, change oil and filter and clean or replace your air filter and your car should last a long time.

I just got my 2003 Cadillac deville..any everything was great..about a week after I got the car I took it Thur the car wash and out the blue the service engine light came on...what can that possibly...

A service engine light means it's time for an oil change. That light needs reset after the oil is changed. The computer senses the miles drove automatically and says "change my oil, it's been 3,000 miles" A CHECK engine light means it has to get a scan done. Change the oil, it will be fine. It is suppose to do that. Let me know if this helps you.

How many quarts of oil for 2003 toyota corolla do i need?

No more than 4 quarts since it is a 4 cylinder car. The best way to know how many quarts is to go by how many cylinders the car has.

What kind of oil should I purchase for my 2003 Dodge Neon?

Use any popular brand of oil that you trust to be good. Use only (sae 10w-30 oil) in the spring and summer months. And use (sae 5w-30 oil) in the winter months. Change the oil and filter every 3,000 miles to prevent engine problems.Hope this will help you.

Lexus RX300 with 95000 miles uses a quart of oil every 400 miles

My 2001 was having the same issue. I replaced the PCV valve and it fixed the problem. Total Cost 5.00. It is easily accesable but you may have difficulty finding it. It is located Left Rear Top of engine (Passenger side). Its brass and it screws in. I went online at my library and found diagram at this location. http://content.chiltonsonline.com/Repair/PrintView.aspx.

Need to know what type of oil.

The weight of oil should be on the oil cap, I believe it should be 5/30w. Whichever weight you decide to use, please, please, only use 100% synthetic. It is just so much better for these cars and you can extend your oil change intervals so it is not that much more in the long run.

Please google: "toyota sludge" to see why I say this.

Servicing cars

You should change your oil & filter every 3 to 5 thousand miles. The more frequently you change the oil, the more life you will get out of the engine. Rotate the tires every other oil change. Replace the air filter every 15 thousand miles. Flush the cooling system and flush the transmission (automatic) every 30 thousand. Change the iridium plugs every 90 thousand. There is no timing belt to worry about, that veh has a timing CHAIN. That is basically it.
