Car vibration and fuel like smell

When i started my car one morning, the car started vibrating. Maybe it was cold and it was out of gas might be the problem, i thought. I parked my car after few blocks and i discovered the smell. like burning fuel smell. i put gas half tank and hoping that the car won't vibrate but it still does. Any idea?

I would guess that one or more of the spark plugs, or spark plug (high tension leads) have failed. That would cause the engine to run uneven , off balance, and create fuel vapours due to unburned fuel.

Worse case scenario it could be leak on fuel injectors or fuel line, if possible have some turn engine over with hood open, if you can see or smell fresh fuel, get professional assistance as this is a extreme fire hazard.

SOURCE: loud vibration on 2005 jeep liberty when under load.

Sounds a lot like a wheel balance problem, Does vibration go away over 55? In checking driveshaft joints...If you looked at them with the vehicle in park with the wheels on the ground, the shaft is "loaded" and cannot be correctly checked. To do this properly, vehicle should be in neutral with both rear wheels off the ground. Sometimes a joint can appear to be tight but still be bad. Check for traces of powdered rust around the rubber boots right where the end caps meet the cross on the inside. Any rust there indicates lack of grease and the likelyhood that the joint is frozen.
Check both balance and joints. Good luck.

SOURCE: vibration when using reverse gear

Have your motor mounts checked very soon. This only shows in reverse because reverse causes a backward torque than the engine does in forward gear.

SOURCE: Vibration while accelerating from 30 to 45 mph Jeep GrandCherokee

Not a tune up problem,
You need to have all U-joints checked out,They will give you the vibrations only while acceleration

SOURCE: I have a Grand Cherokee Jeep 1995 V8. When I go

The "Death Wobble" is a creative term coined by Jeep owners that describes a situation when the front axle begins violently oscillating, causing the car to shake (or wobble) in a manner which makes the vehicle hard to control.

zjlimited_2018.jpg
zjlimited_2019.jpg

The death wobble is a simple problem without a simple solution. Essentially the wobbling is your suspension system is out of equilibrium. Unfortunately there are many areas in the suspension system, including the tires and the body, that could be causing the problem:

  • Poor alignment: If you're experiencing the wobble and haven't had your alignment checked, this is the first thing you should do.
  • Unbalanced Tires: Tires that are unbalanced can start throwing the axle around and the only way to stop the wobble is by slowing down.
  • Ball Joints: Worn ball joints can allow the wheel to move laterally and independently of the opposite wheel. These should be replaced regardless, worn ball joints are very dangerous in any vehicle.
  • Steering Stabilizer Bar: A steering stabilizer that is loose may lead to the death wobble.
A couple main reasons this problem is mostly isolated to Jeeps: first, many Jeeps are coil-sprung with a track bar setup and secondly, a lot of Jeep owners get their Jeeps lifted or modified or have after-market track bars installed. Jeep models affected by this design are: the Cherokee, Grand Cherokee and Wrangler. If it's any consolation (I know it's not) this problem also occurs in some Ford and Dodge trucks, especially older Broncos.

Obviously, to fix the wobble you need to know what's causing it. The best way to do that (although frustrating) is to go through the common causes one-by-one until you find it. Let's start small and work our way up:
  • Start with a quick visual inspection under the front end of the vehicle. Look for shiny or damaged steel, indicative of metal that's moving around.
  • Check to make sure all bolts are tightened on the front track bar
  • Check the tires since they typically break down faster and are more prone to storing and releasing the energy that causes the wobble. Are they properly balanced and inflated to the manufacturer's suggested PSI? Did you recently have them balanced? You might try bringing the car back and asking them to make sure the balance is still true.
  • After that check the front wheel bearings by jacking the the front tires off the ground, grabbing the top and bottom of the tire and trying to wiggle it back and forth. If you notice any lateral give you might want to have a mechanic check those bearings for you.
  • Look for loose connections in the tie rod ends and drag link ends.
  • Has your Jeep been lifted? Might want to check the front axle casters.
  • If all else fails, you might need a new steering stabilizer. Although if you do replace the stabilizer you might want to replace other components as well since the death wobble shakes everything and can loosen other components as well.

Hope helps.

X5. If parked overnight, in the morning why does it start rough and vibrate like it run out of gas?

It probably has. There is a check valve on the fuel rail that holds fuel pressure when the engine is not running. It's probably leaking down. Have a pressure test done on the fuel system to verify this.

Bad gas? or maybe fuel filter?

check engine mounts especially the rear box mount because under high torque situations (1-2) gears there may be mis-alignment of the drive shaft occurring and the vibration is from "U" joints behind the gear box getting out of alignment and phase angle.. Check slip joints for lubrication and wear.

When i start my car and let it warm up for 5 minutes it smells like gas every morning only? What could it be?

someone who is qualified and trained needs to look at the fuel injection system. you are either building fuel up as it sits idle all night or the cold fuel enrichment needs an adjustment. both would cause the smell of unburned gas after an overnight sit.

Engine vibration

The vibration like comes from a misfiring cylinder when cold, which in turn can have many causes; bad spark plug, bad coil, bad fuel injector, leaking head gasket etc.

With such a major overhaul that you did recently I'd go back to the shop since it can be related to the repair. This is especially true if you see white smoke from the tail pipe.

Good luck!
