Hi most likely the carb need cleaning or you have some water in the bottom of the float bowl. you can try this, there is a float bowl drain screw on the float bowl so if there is water it will drain out. this is just a first easy step if it works your good to go if not time to pull the carb and do a complete cleaning (note most do it yourself home mechanics will clean carbs and over look the most important part, you need to pay close attention to the low speed jet make sure it is not blocked and if it is unblock it i use copper wire strand if it is fully blocked the blow it out and spray through with carb cleaner.
I use Brand name carb cleaner ( Sea-Foam ) This is an excellent product for removing gummed and hardened fuel deposits it comes in can liquid and as a spray.

SOURCE: bike will not idle witout having choke on a bit

I have a supermagna and used fuel stablizer once and it wasnt fit it gummed my carbs up,ive cleaned mine often and it isnt rocket science, remove the tank airbox assembly, loosen up the boot flanges that hook the carbs to the motor(ones on carb)then remove the carbs, then the cables, choke and throttle,do not remove carbs from assembly(leave all 4 together)remove the bottoms and tops of a carb, removefloat and jet, then remove all the brass jets and clean them so you can see through holes,,blow out all the holes in carbs, and reasemble, works for me every time, about two hours to do,good luck

SOURCE: I just bought this bike a month ago. It is an '03

Electrical ... check points. You jmight want to run some carb cleaner through it ... change the plugs. Id look at the points or what ever turns the coil on and off, real close.

SOURCE: honda 1986 vt1100c shadow... will start on choke,

You need some carb work (or should I say fuel delivery system?) on this classic motorcycle. You might get away with using some fuel injector cleaner - I would try this first - to dlean the carb (fuel delivery system)

How is your gas? Fresh?

It can be frustrating to try to solve this type problem. Good luck. You can always take it to the Honda Shop ... it is getting colder now, ya know.

Anyway, good riding to you my friend. Thank you for posting at FixYa.com. Please vote

Fuel not flowing to carb.

Check you petcock for correct operation and make sure its not clogged. If its a vacuume actuated petcock, make sure the hose is attached well and not leaking. If all is well with those 2 things then try seeing if gas will flow when you remove the gas cap. If that fixes the problem, then the vent holes on your gas cap are clogged up.

Recheck fuel flow wth float bowl removed allow floats to hang free. And fuel will flow out, remove float needle check for sticking in seating, remove secondary jet and clean with fine wire to remove fuel contamination, also main jet, if all else fails find a used carburettor to replace old one

VTX 1300R 07 ran out of gas and won't start, put fuel in it.

Does your bike have a petcock?

If so you have to prime the fuel bowls with gas by opening the pet **** for a minute until the fuel bowls are full of fuel THEN you set your choke if you have a manual choke THEN start the bike.

Possibly bad gas?

I would do both. Plugs can gas foul plus after draining I would add a fuel restorer additive, just to be sure there is no problem with the older fuel.
