black soot is overfueling. And as it is a trail bike operating in dirt and mud conditions I would be looking at changing the air filter first. Change to a hotter plugs may help (select plugs up in the heat range ). Check reason for extra fuel ( choke flapping on or float level )
Black soot coming from the exhaust would be excessive fuel. The list includes injectors, fuel pressure regulator, fouled plugs, faulty coil, dirty air filter, and so on.
Hi, change the engine oil. It has become contaminated with fuel. Also fit an inline fuel tap and turn it off whenever the mower is not in use. Basically the carby has leaked fuel into the engine oil, the engine then draws the fuel vapour from the oil through the crankcase vent into the carby creating the problem you have. Regards Phil.
signs of a bad fuel pressure regulator-- the vehicle will run rough, the engine will not start ( usually in the mornings,) many times engine starts but stalls shortly after starting. a bad regulator can result in fouled plugs. replacement is only cure. 1- black soot on plugs-2-black smoke from tailpipe-3- running rough-4- stalling, good-day! repost if need be.
norm - brown grayish-tan deposit on side electrode.
carbon fouled - black, dry fluffy soot on insulator tip and electrodes
oil fouled - wet, black, oily deposits on " " " "
burned - blisters on insulator tip, and electrodes
worn - severely erroded or worn electrodes

if its oil its getting past the pistons and being burnt in the engine,,,worn out engine! if its soot,,,its the carb ,,its running to ritch,,,,or the choke is sticking on,,,
it is probably not a weak spark. if you are determing this because the plug is sooting up and fouling and or the bike is missing or just not running right. your carbs need rebuilt. know of same problem with friends bike. tried eveything. coils igniter etc.. check out g man industries.com give them a call they will explain what is going on with your bike
