I installed a new squirrel cage motor and now when the furnace is off, the motor will still run in slow speed even if I turn the thermostat off. When the heat or air are turned on, then the motor runs at normal speed.
Look at your Thermostat wiring.
If there is a green wire going to the "G" terminal, disconnect it.
If it stops running, you have a bad T-stat.
If it keeps running, you either have a stuck fan relay or a low voltage control wiring malfunction.
Those are usually related to one of the safety switches having problems.
If green is not going to G, let me know, and we will determine which one is indeed the fan wire and go from there.

i just installed a goodman heat pump air handler and when i go to give it power the fan motor just turns on it will turn off
I pulled off the "G" Terminal and the motor continues to run in slow speed. Is there a good way to determine whether it is a stuck fan relay or a low voltage control wiring malfunction. This only started happening when I installed a new motor.
Thanks
