there is a device in the transmission called an Accumulator
this is shock absorber (real name) and does just that to stop just that.

solenoid, called PCS or PCV, that if bad , causes too high line pressure. (there a test port for this and the service manual on this car
tells how to do that test)
the box 2.7L has 5 solenoids,
one is called Damper clutch solenoid valve

the books states
If the engine stalls when the selector lever is shifted from N to D or R range while the engine is idling, the cause is probably a malfunction of the engine system, damper clutch solenoid valve, valve body or torque converter (damper clutch malfunction).
N>D shock
If abnormal shocks or a time lag of 2 seconds or more occur when the selector lever is shifted from N to D range while the engine is idling, the cause is probably abnormal underdrive clutch pressure or a malfunction of the underdrive clutch, valve body.
N>R shock

Shocks when changing from N to R and large time lag
If abnormal shocks or a time lag of 2 seconds or more occur when the selector lever is shifted from N to R range while the engine is idling, the cause is probably abnormal reverse clutch pressure or low and reverse brake pressure, or a malfunction of the reverse clutch, low and reverse brake, valve body or idle position switch.

Bearing noises in a clutch system are easily distinguished by running a few simple tests. Start the engine and leave the transmission in neutral. If a transmission makes noise when it is in neutral it is often a worn input shaft bearing. Now depress the pedal until the clutch just engages. This is the point where the release bearing is just contacting the pressure plate fingers. If you begin to hear a squealing sound this is likely a worn release bearing. If a whirling noise is present when the clutch pedal is fully depressed it is probably the pilot bearing.

You need to locate the source of noise first , it seems to noise of drive line only. Which consist of flywheel , clutch system and gear box.
1) In case you are having same problem with clutch engaged or disengaged position ( while throttle is on) , then there is a possible problem with the neutral gear ( if it is not abnormal but just high in magnitude than it was previously than consider replacing the transmission oil) otherwise get the gear box checked with a transmission specialist.
2) In case you are having the noise problem only when clutch is engaged than u may consider to refit the clutch plate and pressure plate , there could be a problem of torquing.

Confirm whether the clutch is not completely abnormal sound generated when the presence, otherwise it may be because the relevant parts hanging file control mechanism is abnormal catching other causes, but the problem of maintenance of vehicles for abnormal noise and noise is comprehensive analysis must be carried out on-site trial judge to hear the sound check, and requires a combination of conditions and abnormal noise generated sounds, such as the nature and source characteristics before we can make accurate judgments . Use obd2 for automotive diagnostics , you can improve vehicle safety performance and driving more safer.

Your clutch release bearing (throw out bearing) has failed. The transmission has to be unmounted from the engine to change this bearing. (Just like a clutch job!) Being this is a 1985 vehicle you should inspect the clutch plate and the pressure plate for wear. The fingers on the pressure plate should be quite worn if the throw out bearing is doing as you stated in your post. I.e rubbing sound and high pitched squeel. Inspection of the clutch plate consists of making sure the rivets are still not even with the friction pad surfaces. Don't forget to also inspect the engine flywheel for abnormal wear while your working in this area.

Its hard to tell, but first most part I would get a second option on what is going on with the motor. 99% of the time your gas cap will not cause the engine light to come on at all. I don't believe Jeep Liberty's even have a sensor to detect that. Don't drive it, a clak clak clak sound coming from the motor it self could be as simple as adjusting a few things or something more serious. Good luck and feel free to ask more questions for help.

If it has a belt remove this then turn drum by hand to see if noise is still present if it is then sounds like some thing caught in between drun inner and outer you may need engineer....Pull plug out 1st...

sounds like the power steering pump is noisy.

does the bike slip out of any gear? if its second gear then your tranny is going bad, but it isnt a hard thing to fix. its just an actual gear that has lost teeth. what is year of bike?
