2005 V-Star 1100 flooded condition. Changed plugs...same result. Removed and cleaned carbs and set the floats a few times. Each time the bike stareted and ran mint at lower engine RPM. The problem is it won't rev past about 1/3 throttle and stalls out. Any idea's? I'm about nuts!

Change fuel filter.
fuel pump sounds fine.
Check for kinked or blocked lines.
If it has a fuel recovery cannister service it.

SOURCE: 2003 V Star 650. Had fule pumping out of air cleaner box

you shouldnt have to resync the carbs as long as you dont touch the mixture screws or the screws for the throttle blades. you wont have to pull the jets completly out to clean them just spray the heck out of all the orifaces with carb cleaner once you have them pulled apart. Also whe you put it back together make shure the carb seal to the engine and airbox are tight with no leaks, this will make it run bad also

SOURCE: 2005 v star 1100 stalls

this is just your idle adjustment. all you have to do is let the engine warm up to operating temp., then raise the idle. you may need to remove your air intake and filter to get to the adjusting screws. they are usually on the side of the carburetor, right in the center. they may be somewhere else though. some carb's have a cable mounted near the carb to adjust the idel. im not familiar with your specific model. but once you determine where the idle screw(s) are, turn them in clockwise with the engine running. go about 1/4 turn at a time until it will stay running without having to give it throttle.

SOURCE: l50deto 2 stroke outboard stalling at high revs

fuel pump could be the cause but also the float in the carby could be not set at the right level and starve the motor at high revs .

Sounds like it may be drawing air around the intake somewhere. Let it idle and spray around carefully with wd-40 until it speeds up. This will reveal the leak.

I have a 86 honda shadow vt 1100 has spark wont start

the Bike need three things to run Spark ait and fuel. if your sure you have spark then move to fuel, check if fuel is getting to carbs. if not turn on petcock if pet **** is on and still no fuel may need to add fuel or check and see if petcock is clogged. if petcock is clogged then remove gas tank and clear out any and all debres.

If you are getting fuel to carbs and bike still does not run, check air box to see that it hasent become a new home for mice. if bike has been sitting for a while 60 days or more (ethinol in gas REALLY cloges up your carbs) you will want to pull carbs and clean flote bowls and all air ana fule passages, main jet and emultion tube slow jet and emultion tube check and clean venturi slide and check slide diaphram for holes. Check all seals and floats (Floats: if the floats have any kind of a hole in them they will fill up with fuel and flood the float bowls) check float bowl pins ( some times they get stuck closed not allowing float bowls to fill with fuel.

If you are not sure you can do this that find a local motorcycle mechanic who can help you. to keep repair costs down you may want to bring them the set of carbs removed from your bike (if you are able to)

My bike was starting hard in fact the last few

The reason it might be leaking through the overflow hose is probably because one of your floats are stuck. Reason it might be hard to start is because you might need a new spark plug or carb cleaned.

Have a 2001 Yamaha 1100, carbs are leaking, why?

Fuel over flow is normally caused by dirt getting into the fuel lines and blocking the valve in the float bowl. The reason that if wont fire is because there is too much fuel in the engine and it is flooding.

Turn the fuel off and remove the carb.

take off the float bowl and remove the float. held in by a bar.

check the valve and blast compressed air into the valve seat to clear any debris.

Rebuild the float bowl but do not put the case back on yet. a simple test to see if it has worked is to gently hold the float whilst blowing down the fuel line.
As you move the float up and down by hand it should be harder or easier to blow, resulting in a complete stop when you close the valve completely. (BE CAREFUL NOT TO APPLY TOO MUCH PRESSURE TO THE FLOAT BOWL)
as this could bend the float. Once happy with the operation of the float, replace the case and install back on the bike.

Please reply if this does not fix the problem.

I've got a 2005 650 that is pouring gas out of a tube under the carb. It only pours when its started and running. Won't idle

Your carb has a hung float or needle and seat issues.

You have to take the carb off the bike and consider replacing the float and/or needle and seat.

You might get by just raising the float level. But this is only a stopgap maneuver. Buy a new float!

You bike is flooding so it wont run right until this is fixed.

The reason its only flooding while its running is because your bike has an automatic gas tank valve that opens when the bike starts and makes vacuum that opens the valve. It is saving you from the bike totally filling up with fuel!

Kawasaki KVF 300 carb setting Bike will not start, Flooded and changed plug, wil not start now????

If spark plug is wet with petrol then float level is incorrect either by dirt under float needle or set too high.

If you havent altered / removed the carb and it has just happened, somtimes gently tapping the float bowl can dislodge the dirt. Otherwise you will need to remove carby, (I assume it has one) and clean out.

2006 v star 1100. 1500 miles. this bike had new

The excess fuel is caused by the float levels being out of adjustment. Fix the floats and the dead spot may disappear. If not, pull the slides and then move the jet needle clip down one notch. With due respect, I would put the bike carbs back to stock. :)

My v-star 1100 has not been run in over a year. fuel leaks when trying to start. Whats wrong?

This sounds to me like a carb float being stuck open. Turn off the gas and drain the offending carb(s). Next, turn the gas back on and sharply tap the float bowl with the plastic handle of a screwdriver as the fuel bowl refills. The goal here is to vibrate the float to free it up. If doing this process a couple of times does not free the float I would remove the carb(s) and clean with a spray carb cleaner. Clean the air filter then re-mount carb(s). Next, Remove the water trap bowl at the bottom of the petcock, (gas valve). Dump it, clean it and re-mount it, ( not all bikes have a water trap bowl ). Install an inline fuel filter.

Bike does not want to start

hello
sometimes when hauling a bike it is common that the cylinders can flood. you may need to clean the plugs and turn the bike over a few times to clean the fuel out of the cylinders. what usually happens. is if the fuel valve is left on, the floats are jumping up and down allowing fuel to by pass and that usually ends up in the cylinders. and this usually fouls the plugs. this is pretty common im sure you may find some results there. thank you.
