Sounds like the trouble is the ECU .it may need a software update.but check your codes first.

SOURCE: My 1996 Grand Voyager runs

Hello,
You didn't mention any trouble codes. In 1996 all vehicles manufactured in the U.S were required to install the second generation OBD, also refered to as OBD II, to insure that a standard scanner could be used on all vehicles.

It shouldn't be a fuel problem with everything you've had done.

I don't believe it's an emissions problem, because, although emissions can cause a vehicle to stall it usually gives a bad idle and poor acceleration among other things.
Because you don't mention bad idle, loss of power, or no restart we can safely say it's not an emissions problem.

The only thing left that I can think of is an electrical short. I would start with having both ends of the auto shutdown relay checked for a good connection and have the contnuity checked.

Secondly, I would ant to have the wiring in the steering column checked for the same thing, in particular around the ignition. I am very sure your problem is electric.

I'm very sorry your having these issues and I hope this will help you solve them.
If you have other questions please feel free to leave me a comment, and I will get back to you ASAP.
Thanks, Donnie

1992 Bmw 1600 auto, really slow, slug like, mint car, clutch not slipping, uphill walking pace , nearly. Can it be remapped? On the flat seems fine, a little gut less but ok, any hints?

My guess... and it's only an educated guess as there are so many possibilities, the fuel filter is blocked.
When you ask about remapping I'm assuming it is a computer controlled engine management system. Does the check engine light come on wither the ignition on but go out when you start the engine?

Power restrictor

Definite answer is DONT DO IT. Motorcycles are balanced one part against another, to provide the best performance possible for the majority of riders, short of re-engineering. If you start fooling with these things willy nilly, in addition to polluting the air and annoying the neighbors, you could ruine your investment and hurt yourself. Is 100 + miles per hour in fewer than 15 seconds not sufficient for you?

92 bmw 318 is runs good for 15 mins then it will start missin and engine lights on.i smell like oil smoke and i turn car off. what could it be ,could it be valve stem seals or what.

You smell burning oil. See if there is oil in your spark plug wells or down the exhaust side of the engine. If there is, replace the valve cover gasket. That may be related to the miss if there is a lot of oil on the plugs.
You say the (Check) Engine light is on. Your engine light will flash a code to indicate the problem if you turn the key to the On (just before it starts) and press the gas pedal all the way to the floor five times within five seconds.

Have a 2002 camry check engine light has been on for years. had the catalyst convertor replace 2years ago. still did not fix the problem. have been told that when it was put in that the system needed to...

if you have had a fault with the oxygen sensors for a long time it is possible it has fouled up the catalytic converter.

if the engine check light is the one for routine service and oil change and there is no other fault, it may be possible to reset it yourself.

1. turn ignition key to ACC or LOCK position

2. ensure the odometer is shown and not the trip meters

3. press and hold the trip meter reset button

4. while holding the reset button, turn the key to ON position

5. keep holding the reset button for at least 5 seconds. the odometer will read "000000"
and the light should go off.

if it does not go off then the system will need to be remapped, possible after a new catalytic converter.

try the reset sequence first though

Do i need to get my ecu remapped following the fitting of a k and n induction kit

no with air induction you should be fine. The computer will adjust fuel air mixture. When you add a different exhaust system is when people run into trouble. That changes back pressure and can cause the engine to run outside of computers control..

1999 bmw 538i

One of two things I think, if you are using low octane "Regular" gas in this can and it says it requires premium, the car could be retarding the timing which could cause a knock on idle.
you could also check the compression for a loose valve that could be causing the knock, otherwise you might have a bent rod, which it sounds like you might. The kock will get progressively worse until you fry your engine and have to buy a new one. Good Luck. Talk to a mechanic.

Bmw 1997 tds compact slow on acceleration using a lot of diesel any cure put new heater plugs in but this was because of the slow start second gear there is no power on hills

Depending on your mileage, you may need to refurbish your turbo as its on its way out if your getting very low power or you can remap. I have got mine remapped to 120 bhp and mpg/torque is awsome.
