Schematic and/or wiring diagram - Magnavox TV Mod 20ms233s

Need schematic and/or wiring diagram for Magnavox/Philips TV Model 20ms233s. I have found a broken wire running from small circuit board pin 0227. Can't locate where it is supposed to go although I believe it runs to large circuit board. Hopefully it has something to do with sound as the TV has had a sound problem for the last year and now there is none. It is a black wire with plug in white connector to pin 0227 on small circuit board. Where does other end connect?

    I think I blew something out in the 75 ohm input area. I now have no picture nor sound but a nice clear screen!

Problems with Philips Magnavox 20MS233S 20'' TV?

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Offhand your described problem could be:
  • top and/or bottom - vertical deflection, most likely a failing capacitor or the Vertical IC. In some instances, it could just be a cold solder on any of the IC's pins;
  • all 4 sides - likely to be a main B+ issue. Often, this would be the main filter capacitor. In some instances, this could be a failing component in the horizontal section.
This would require opening the unit. This of course would require a fair familiarity of electronic components/circuitry and safety procedures, use of a DVM and a soldering iron. It would be to your added advantage access to a service manual or at the very least a schematic diagram with voltage readings. Should you be uncomfortable performing a DIY (do-it-yourself), perhaps your best bet would then be to seek the services of a qualified professional.

Just a start, do postback how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

Usually it "Blows" the primary winding of the step down transformer and often does nothing else, if ya lucky, so try replacing the transformer, sometimes it can also, as well blow the Bridge Rectifier OR rectifier Diodes, on the secondry side. I havent seen schematics have you Goggled for them?
