I have just worked on a 2003 ttr90 for a friend and had a similar problem. when I got the bike it had set up for a few years so the fuel system was wrecked. after a thorough cleaning the bike would run fine up to about 3500rpm. then it would cut out much like a rev limiter. it was very consistant and I read some forums but none said anything about a rev limiter. I had also installed a carb kit. I decided to remove the carb and try again. I figured it was lacking fuel in the upper rpms so I raised the throttle cylinder needle as high as it would go. there are 3 notches to set it. the factory setting was in the middle. after I raised the needle it ran like new and turned through the rpm range perfectly. hope this helps someone.

SOURCE: Wont rev past 3/8 throttle!! I NEED HELP.

could be. I had a 91 kx 250 that was acting crazy and it turned out to be the stator and cdi box. you can check the stator easly with a omes meter but the cdi box is nearly impossible to check. you pretty much have to buy a new one and try it. also check to see if your power valve is working.

SOURCE: dt 230 low on power.bike gets half revs then runs

Hi there, you likely still have the restrictor in the exhaust header. Mine was the same, they are shipped like that as standard. Take the exhaust off the engine and remove the the concentric tube that's in there (you need to cut it out). Instant +100% power, if that is your problem.

Check your jetting in your carb. It seems like your idle jet is fine but your main jet may be plugged or the wrong size.

2004 Prarie 360 4x4 idles fine .but when it gets half throttle it starts to miss like it has a rev limiter. ..just like when you go in reverse and have to hit the over idea button.

sounds like a fuel /air problem. It only shows at low revs because the requirement is met as there is no great pressure on the fuel delivery system but as revs rise and the fuel delivery becomes critical misadjustment of the system causes it to miss. You need a ferrari man to check this out.

Hello, i have a stihl ts400 and i just rebuilt the topend(crank, piston, cyl, all bearings and seals.Fires up easy, idles fine, revs fine, but when you hold the throttle down it doesent want to hit rev limiter...

There is not an actual rev limiter. The top end is controlled by the carb. You actually want it to sound a bit rich at full throttle so that it has enough fuel when cutting under a load. What causes me some alarm is the revving up part. If it revs too fast that is a lean condition and can quickly ruin the piston and cylinder much like running straight gas. A torn intake boot can cause this. The high speed spec for the TS400 is 9,600 rpm + OR - 500 RPM. Your saw may not have a needle to adjust the high side as some have only the low speed adjuster. Also when you disassemble and clean the carb always use a new kit with the gaskets and diaphragm. Any Stihl dealer can furnish the kits and they aren't terribly expensive. Often between $10-20.

How do i adjust the fuel air mix on a 2012 cub cadet bc210 trimmer

there is a special tool that fits the splines on the carb screws, part no. 530035560, before adjusting the Hjet make sure the air filter is clean, and if it has a spark arrestor in the muffler outlet check it has not carboned up, both of these things will cause the engine to run rich.

Ive ridden my bike a couple of times here at home but here lately my engine begines to rev up on it own. once i hit the throttle it backs off. also here lately i need to leave the choke half on.

Sounds like your throttle cable is binding, possibly bent or not routed threw the bike frame properly. Have you fallin with the bike? check for damage to the twist grip or looseness to the mounting area Hopefully this helps.

My 660r when i go full throttle it sounds like it bonces of the rev

If it's hitting the rev limiter before the red-line you need to have the ECU recalibrated or install a power commander.

92 300zx rpm will not go over 2500 rpm pops from intake

This is a classic symptom of a bad mass airflow sensor. Nissan designed this as a protective feature on the car. If the mass air sensor goes bad, the computer limits the car to a 2400RPM rev limit to prevent damage.

The sensor is under the center nose panel between the headlights. Take that off and on the back of the airbox (which fills this space) you'll see a pipe coming out that meets at a "T" with another hose going across and down under the headlights. That pipe off the back of the airbox is the mass air sensor (it has a harness plugged in).
