Front sprocket Can you suggest a one tooth less front sprocket than the original front sprocket of the Yamaha YBR 125 (2008) to fit the same YBR 125 ?

Thanks for your answer but I ment the other way round sorry.

I want a bit more accelleration, so I take it that I should fit a front sproket with one more extra tooth. I need you to suggest a front sprocket with one more extra tooth that will fit to my Yamaha YBR 125 (2008 model) Do you know the number of teeth the original sproket of my YBR should have ?

Hi...., thanks for your reply. I would go for the other sollution and change the rear sprocket. All I want is a bit more of accelleration when I am loaded with a pillion, so if you can suggest the thing and the supplier, I would try to get it over the internet since I live in Malta.

    All the best and regards

    Steve

Hi ........... One tooth less will give you more top speed (if you can pull top revs) but will reduce accelleration. If you go for one tooth less you'll need to tighten the chain and/or remove a link. It's a trade off ............ decide what you want the bike to do.

Hi .... Changing the gearbox sprocket is the cheapest way to achieve what you want. What you have to watch out for is the clearance between the sprocket and the crankcases (esp'ly if chain snaps/breaks). Which country do you live in ? Any suppliers I know of are all UK based. ALL will be able to supply alternative sprockets in (almost) any tooth number you want. More expensive solution but maybe more appropriate solution, esp'ly if top speed isn't an issue, would be to increase number of teeth on the REAR sprocket, you'd have a HUGE choice of variables BUT top speed could be dramatically reduced. You would also need a longer chain depending how large you go. One on the front is equal to two/three on the rear ............ How fast due you want to accellerate ?

Hi ... Go for two or three extra teeth on the rear sprocket, you'll also need to add links (if the chains good) or change the chain for a longer (and heavier ?) one.

    Try ...............

6-7 links.. you need to move the axle all the way forward when installing a new chain... (it will stretch!) moving the axle all the way forward gives you plenty of adjustment later!!

IS THERE A GUIDE ANYWHERE ON HOW TO CHANGE A CHAIN A SPROKET SET FOR A 2005 YBR AND IS IT DIFFICULT

The chain is not a huge issue, but the sprockets are. When a chain wears, the sprockets suffer the same about of wear. If you just change the chain, the new one will have seriously shortened life as it wants to wear out to the level of the old sprockets.
This is not a do it yourself job, specifically the front sprocket.

Yamaha r125

Just remove the chain cover then bend the tab on the lockwasher away from the nut so you can then remove the nut. Install the new sprocket and put the assembly back together. Stock gearing is a 13 tooth front sprocket and 48 tooth rear sprocket. The stock chain is 112 links plus master link. The chain is DID 520D 112L. Please rate my answer. Thanks.

At 70mph my engine is wound up pretty tight, it has a 16 front and a 46 rear, any suggestions

Just go to a larger front sprocket. An 18 tooth sprocket should help greatly. Alternate to that would be to get a smaller 38 tooth rear sprocket. The front sprocket will cost a lot less and is better for the chain than the current 16 tooth.

How is the best way to get front drive sprocket off of my yamaha

No need to worry. Just remove the cover plate and you can see how the sprocket comes off. Changing the front sprocket is a whole lot quicker and easier than doing the rear sprocket.
