Sounds like low compression. Do a compression test, and it should have at least 90psi,..if not,its time to rebuild the top end..(piston,rings,bore)...pretty common for two strokes.

Testimonial: "Cheers pal, I'm gonna have a look at it on Sunday, but it does still run when i bump start it, it has lost a little bit of compression though, but when it runs it still goes into power band and that..."

I wouldnt keep riding it like that. If the compression is that low, then its only a matter of time before a ring or even the piston decides to come apart and damage the head, cylinder,or bottom end.

Only rode it once when i bumped it, anyways took it apart, you could put your finger nail in the score mark on the barrel, it was that bad, can't even bore it out, Piston has chips/dents all over it, and piston rings stuck to the top of the head, so I sold the full bike cheap.

Hi cbloom,
You will have to probabley adjust the clutch either from the end of the cable at the side cover or from the above at the handle lever.

Good Luck .

SOURCE: kawasaki kx 125 2005 runs then cuts out

Clean the carb then remove the water trap bowl from the gas valve. Clean the bowl, any water in it? If water was in the bowl then drain one cup of gas from the tank. Any water or trash in the bottom of the container? Also, are you using stock NGK spark plugs or Autolite plugs. Use stock plugs. Clean the air filter.

Please rate this solution as "FixYa" if able. Thanks!

SOURCE: My dirtbike sat in the garage for 4 years now it wont run right .

have you checked the reeds inside the induction side if they are corroded from sitting it will cause that problem, also check the spark plug, may just be a case of weak spark ,if still no good check the coila good way to test if it is a spark problem get a can of aerostart (wyns start ya bastard) and spary a little in carby, should start real easy. if so then spark is your problem. also just thinking check tat your exhaust has not collapsed inside itself or is blocked, that can cause no power too. hope i have been of some help.

hi murray,

nice bike you have there.

have you checked on the carb ans see if the jet is right and the mixture is normal, this is usually the case if the carb is not tuned right.

better of reset the card, open it clean it, then set to default even if you are using your mixture of gas and 2t. just set to factory default. once it starts give it a few run, 1-2 hours, then set it to how you want your mixture to be.

hope this helps,

regards,

voodoo

Koubalink I am short as well, could ride fine, but as the bike is tough to kickstart, I needed the height to get a full range on the kickstart. Bought a Koubalink, fitted it in about 30 mins and worked out perfectly. Cheers

Replacing Kawasaki kx 80 kick start return spring

Hi, easy job, if your bike is waer cooled, you dont say how old it is the old bikes were air cooled, undo all the water pipes attached to the r/h case all the water will escape, you can leave the oil inside the gearbox, if you lay the bike on its left hand side, lift the engine and block it up to make sure gear lever is not resting on the ground, as this will disengage when you remove the clutch cover on the r/hand side, undo all the fixing screws from the cover remove kickstart lever, tap the cover gently to loosen the cover and remove when loose, if the case will not come off check further for screws, sometimes hide inside water pumps etc, once you are ready to remove the cover, keep the kickstart shaft pushed inermost so that it stays located within the engine, once ready fully observe the location of spring mountins within the engine and replace the spring

Replaced geerbox oil in kx 250(04)now bike wont finde 3rd,4th,5th. it wos fine before.please help me!

Thats a strange one.For some reason it may be just locked in 2 gears at one time.Lift the bike of the ground onto some sort of stand.Don,t start it.Take the plug out.Run the rear wheel backwards and forward.Clicking the gears at the same time. This might 'unlock' a wound up box.Being off the ground you can't hurt it.Just try different gears and in both directions.I hope this helps, because its a strange problem if all was ok beforehand. Thanks

Top speed

no you **** going bigger in the back is more accel, smaller is more top end. a 48-46 would put you somewhere between 80-100 mph depending on the engine but result is **** low end. If your kx is 6 spd you would benefit from going up a tooth or 2 for lowend because it has topend already.
