No, it's not really safe (the food may not reach a high enough temp.)

Also, if you did try, it would take hours to get hot enough &the food wouldn't be as appealing--dried out etc.

Try reheating in your microwave instead.

Do i need to add water to my slow cooker if so where do put it

All the ingredients in a crock-pot meal go into the ceramic pot. You don't add any water to the cooker itself. The cooker is basically just a holder for the pot and provides the heat. Any liquid goes into the pot with the rest of the goodies. The pot on many models is removable for serving and cleaning, while the base should be kept away from water (like any other electrical appliance).

If you need a manual for your cooker, you can try here for Rival brand models, here for Hamilton-Beach products, and here for West Bend. Chances are you'll find your model or one similar enough that it should clear up any questions.

Now, what's on the menu?

Insert of a slow cooker over a gas flame

Stoneware by it's nature isn't designed for use over an open flame, as the flame can cause concentrated "hot spots" which could damage (crack) the crockery insert.

I've used mine to reheat mac & cheese I've made using the crock pot, but then again, my Hamiliton Beach crock pot stated the insert was oven safe to 475 degrees.

As far as using in an oven, most crock pot inserts can withstand oven temperatures, but refer to the owner's manual and instructions that came with your particular appliance to see what they reccomend in that regard.

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!
