My front and rear valve cover gaskets are leaking. Are they difficult to replace? What to do/ watch out for? Do I clean inside around the valve? What to spray to clean it?

SOURCE: Removing Yamaha rear tire (1100 Classic)

do you mean remove the wheel? tires are best left to a shop to do as they have the machine. drive shaft yes? undo all bolts thru frame to final drive casing. slacken wheel nut but do not remove spindle, pull wheel back and out of the frame the drive shaft comes with it, tace out spindle and now lift final drive from wheel, there may be a spacer which might fall out. done deal..

SOURCE: where is the oil filter on my yamaha V-star 1100

On the right side of the bike (right side when ou are sitting on it) just above the rear brake lever behind a small circular plate. remove the plate and the oil filter is inside (you will easily see it). Warning---on these bikes you have to drop the front exhaust header and right floor board in order to change the oil filter unless you install a after market oil filter relocation kit. If you plan on changing your own oil it is highly recommended to install this relocation kit.

SOURCE: Hi I have an oil leak @ the front of the engine.

is it The cover behind the front tire with the 2 allen screws holding it on ?, this is the cover for the lifter adjustment. i believe its chrome. Remove the cover and you'll see the valve spring and rocker arm. This is where you make the valve adjustment. The cover has a rubber type gasket around it. You can purchase them from your Yamaha dealer. Replace the rubber gasket and your problem is over. Once you remove the cover you will see. Good Luck!

SOURCE: Can Synthetic blend oil be used with a Yamaha 1100

Yes, Yamaha makes regular,semi-,and full synthetic oil for there motorcycles. Make sure the oil you use is JASO MA certified for motorcycle use. Do not use any oil that says energy conserving, it will shorten the life of your clutch and drive gears. Amzoil and Mobile 1 both make good motorcycle oil (full synthetic). Full synthetic is often the same price as semi-synthetic.

Rear seat, there is a single acorn nut (metric 10mm) on the back fender. Remove that and the seat will come off if you pull it up and back.

Front seat, there are two allen bolts which were under the rear seat. Remove them and the front seat will come off if you pull up and back.
