I have been troubleshooting my electrical problem on my 2003 V star 1100 classic. The starter was dissasembled, cleaned and tested and everything was fine. The stator is pulling zero olms ,When I should be readin .36 to.44 olms,So I'll be purchasing an upgraded stator and throwing in an upgraded rectifier as well.Since the side cover os off ,I'll be replacing the starter clutch for the hell of it.I need your help to locate a flywheel puller for a 2003 v star 1100.Thanks for any help you guy's can give.

your voltage/reg. can be tested in a couple different ways check ground res. check res. then revs. bias on diodes you have ac in dc out it sounds like you may have a diode gone bad allowing ac curent to flow causing the wires to get hot

The starter clutch is on the back side of
the flywheel rotor. It has some little springs
and rollers and only turns one way.
When the parts get worn it starts to slip.
Be careful as you can get the rear
camshaft and valves out of time in there too.
When the "T" mark is aligned the
cam sprocket mark should
point straight up to the top center of the head.
If not, the valve timing is out and you
need to either move the gears or chain
to align it all.
SOURCE: how to remove the starter clutch on a 2003 yamaha
It is on the back side of the flywheel for the magneto/generator. You will need to remove the left engine side cover then pull the flywheel. It does take a special puller to get the fly wheel off. Once you get the flywheel off, there are 8 allen bolts that hold it to the back side of the flywheel.

AN AUTOMOTIVE HARMONIC BALANCER PULLER WORKS JUST FINE
SOURCE: starter
Jump the starter directly from a freshly charged battery NOT a car battery, if it turns then it's good and you may have a bad starter relay or neutral safety switch or starter switch is poorly grounded.
