1995 nissan truck 2wd, 4 cyl, 5 speed manual: You can move through all the gears when the engine is not running, but when the engine is running you can not get it to go into gear. It seems the clutch is not disengaging, because if you don't crank it in neutral it starts to move. I have removed and bypassed the clutch damper and removed and replaced the clutch master and slave cylinders .

I have the same problem. I didn't replace anything, never heard any noises, clutch will not disengage. I did bleed the system and have fresh fluid in place.

Have you tried bleeding the system?

The clutch disk has broker, a piece of the friction disk material has boken loose and is wedged between the friction disk and the preasur plate. I had this happen to my '77 280Z. You will need to replace the friction disk.

When driving in 5th gear should the RPMs run at 3000 RMPS. Mine is a 4 cly 5 speed

You don't provide much information to go on (type of vehicle, type of engine, 2wd or 4wd, etc.) RPM is always going to be based on the speed you're traveling with a standard transmission. My 4 cyl 5 speed Nissan pickup in 5th gear runs at 3000 RPM at about 75mph.

Just bought 95 chevy pu 5 speed manual looks like

Please ensure that this has gear oil because some of these actually ran regular dexron tranny fluid. If it is gear oil a standard 80w-90 is a good all grade gear oil to run in it.

1995 Nissan XE Pickup Transmission Problems-PLEASE HELP

your luck as with mine is not good. thought I had a bad bearing, after droping the tranny and seperating the housing, I have a broken counter shaft. after looking for another with no luck, the tranny shop informed me that was common for these transmissions. parts are expensive, to rebuild would cost aprox.$800.00 or more. the main cause is the front bearing is supported in alum. causing shaft to move which first takes out the bearing, then the strain snaps the shaft. taking out all gears except 4th and only moves while in 4 wheel drive.

MY 1997 NISSAN XE 2.4 LITER, 4 CYLINDER, 5-SPEED STANDARD 2WD TRUCK WILL NOT GO IN REVERSE WITH VEHICLE BEING STILL WITHOUT KNOCKING IT IN GREAR WITH YOUR FIST BUT IT WILL GO IN GEAR IF YOU ARE COASTING...

With the vehicle sitting still, ease the clutch out just a little bit while trying to engage reverse. If it pops in, even with a little grinding, it seems the bearings on the counter shaft may be a little stiff. Have you checked the level of the gear lube in the transmission?
