Nice thing about the Roadliner, if a car does hit you, it'll probably bounce off with major damage.

SOURCE: where is the oil filter on my yamaha V-star 1100

On the right side of the bike (right side when ou are sitting on it) just above the rear brake lever behind a small circular plate. remove the plate and the oil filter is inside (you will easily see it). Warning---on these bikes you have to drop the front exhaust header and right floor board in order to change the oil filter unless you install a after market oil filter relocation kit. If you plan on changing your own oil it is highly recommended to install this relocation kit.

SOURCE: dj683 i installed bub pipes on my 2000 yamaha

I too had this popping back fire on my 2004 Yamaha 1100 custom.
Seems the AIS system is causing this.

This site has an excellent PDF file and instructions.
http://www.sloneservices.com/SilverBack/Other-Stuff/AIS%20Removal.pdf
There is also a simple way to block of the AIS without stripping it off the bike. Reversible too!
(Usually my first choice to see if the desired results are achieved.)

Good luck!
Loved my BUB pipes too!

SOURCE: 1980 Yamaha XS 1100 Carduretor diagram

It is part of a detent mechanism for the choke. No, all 4 carbs do not have them, only 1.
Here is a link to Yamaha's website, where you can pull up a diagram of your bike's carbs. The ball is #10 and there is also a spring with it.
http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/parts/home.aspx
They are saying there are 2 balls and 2 springs, but I do not remember them having 2. I also don't see another #10 or #11 on the picture anywhere. You should be able to look at the rod that connects all the chokes together and see if there are 2 sets of dimples for the balls. Obviously there will be one set in carb #1, if you find another set of dimples for a detent ball, then there indeed would be 2. Also, the carb body would be drilled for the spring and ball like the #1 carb is.
Thanks

SOURCE: Have a 2001 Yamaha 1100, carbs are leaking, why?

Fuel over flow is normally caused by dirt getting into the fuel lines and blocking the valve in the float bowl. The reason that if wont fire is because there is too much fuel in the engine and it is flooding.

Turn the fuel off and remove the carb.

take off the float bowl and remove the float. held in by a bar.

check the valve and blast compressed air into the valve seat to clear any debris.

Rebuild the float bowl but do not put the case back on yet. a simple test to see if it has worked is to gently hold the float whilst blowing down the fuel line.
As you move the float up and down by hand it should be harder or easier to blow, resulting in a complete stop when you close the valve completely. (BE CAREFUL NOT TO APPLY TOO MUCH PRESSURE TO THE FLOAT BOWL)
as this could bend the float. Once happy with the operation of the float, replace the case and install back on the bike.

Please reply if this does not fix the problem.

Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Throttle cables improperly adjusted or pinched.
2. Idle adjusting screw needs to be backed off.
3. Intake system air leak.
4. Fast idle choke ramp is not releasing.
5. Broken throttle return spring.
6. Damaged diaphragm or slide.
7. Faulty MAP, TPS, ATS, O2, VSS sensors or wiring/connector
