Always been my best source, from the ancient iron up to the twin cams.
SOURCE: to wire theturn signal in
if they are dual function blubs its easy one goes to ground one to blinker and the other to the brake light. if the blub is not dual function you will need a module to turn them into stop, run ,blink function. there are aftermarket and harley make a module as well.

SOURCE: need turn signal wiring diagram for 1982 harley
Contact me directly and I'll try to scan you a copy of a wiring diagram for your 82 Ironhead. [email protected] The diagram I have is quite large and I'll have to send it to you in two .JPG format files. If that would be sufficient, let me know.

I can help you with the wiring diagram but it will be the complete diagram. I have never seen just a turn signal only type wiring diagram. But, there's nothing to a '74 model Ironhead turn signal system.
All the wires for the system were gray but had these little "colored rubber bands" on the ends of the wires near the signal lights. The violet bands were for the left side and the brown bands were for the right side turn signals
Now, I cannot send the wiring diagram through this forum as it will not allow for an attachment. If you will contact me directly, I'll send you a wiring diagram as a jpeg attachment via e-mail. My address is [email protected].
Good luck
Steve
SOURCE: 1986 HD sportster 883 bought without turn signals.
Your bike came with front running lights (black wire) and turn signals. The wire color for the turn signals are gray wires. The grey turn signal wires have small rubber bands on them to indicate which side they are for. A brown tag indicates right turn signals and a violet tag indicates left turn signals. If you need a schematic, I have one but I cannot send it via this forum. This forum only allows for a 150Kb picture and the schematic is larger than that. I'll be glad to scan the schematic and send it to you if you'll contact me directly at [email protected] Remind me that you need a schematic for a 1986 Sporty.
Good Luck
Steve
