Wont start hi i ahve just bought a second hand piaggio nrg 2001 it has been strating ok but i tried to start it earleir and it wont start . i have got fuel in it but there is no 2stroke oil in the oil tank , would that stop it from starting thanx

Absence of 2T oil in the reservoir in a two stroke engine is always bad news. Probable cause of no start:

• oil level sensor knows no oil, triggers CDI not to fire, pls check if you have spark at the plug;
• if the engine was run previously with no 2T oil (unknown to you), then it is possible to have broken rings. You can check compression by removing the plug and covering the hole with a finger. Start and determine if their is compression strong enough to push your finger away from the hole and produce a pressure release sound;
• if there is spark and compression is good, you may need to de-carbonized the cylinder head and the top of the piston.
