My Suzuki grand vitara diesel 2001 model came to a halt when the clutch disc got burnt. When the mechanic was changing it he broke the cam sensor. After I bought a new one from the local dealers of suzuki in Ghana, it was able to start the engine but with lot of smoke and the car will not pool. Now the cam sensor cannot start the car even though the battery is good, it cranks but will not start. What might be the cause?

Hi!
What you can try is to cool the "camshaft rotary sensor" by pouring (normal) water (which I also did just last week) and it works to start & run the car until the next pull-over. You have to redo pouring water if you stop the endine and does not re-start. But this may be just an emergency solution wherein you have to let the car be serviced by a mechanic.

2007 Suzuki Grand Vitara DDi diesel engine. How to set the timing on it please?

Question edited for clarity, add maker and toss in some CAPS.
Question moved to model category.

The ignition timing is electronic, so presumably you want the camshaft valve timing.

2001 SUZUKI ESCUDO (GRAND VITARA). My vehicle can't slow down after drive 70 -80 km if I slow engine off and cant start up without accelerating.

Correct. When you turn off the engine you lose the engine vacuum to the brake boost assist. No brakes. Can't accelerate with engine off.

Who makes the diesel engine in the suzuki grand vitara

The 1.9-litre diesel engine in the latest version is sourced from Renault and delivers a hefty 221 ft lbs of torque for reassuring operation both on and off road. This power makes the Grand Vitara a far more versatile proposition, with even enough power to pull a small caravan if required.

Do i need lock tool to change cam belt on a 03 grand vitara

I'd be first confirming whether you have a 1.6 litre Grand Vitara (petrol), or a 2 litre turbo diesel. The 2 litre petrol (straight 4 or V6) or 2.5 litre petrol engines are all chain drive.
If your engine is petrol then no lock tool is required (to hold the camshaft). Of course, there is a specific position that an engine should be rotated too before removing the belt from ANY engine.
If it's diesel, then although I'm unfamilar with that particular engine, the general requirement for diesel engines with high pressure injection pumps is "yes, you require a lock tool" to hold the injection pump pulley. As I think these are a common rail set-up, this requirement may not be necessary. Check with your Suzuki Dealer, or maybe someone else here will know more. A similar question may have already been asked and answered here too.
