Do you have forward controls? I'm thinking the rod is out of adjustment.

SOURCE: i have a 1999 dyna

If you know for sure the clutch works, meaning, you have adjusted it at the center screw (at the clutch) and the trans is still not shifting out of first chances are one of the guides on a shift fork is bent, or something is wrong with the drum itself. This is common when people have problems shifting from first to second. The only way to know for sure, is to remove the drum and forks, and visually look at all components to make sure they are damaged. though 9 times out of 10 this is the problem.

SOURCE: how to wire a horn on an 2003 harley davidson low

If the horn is mounted on a rubber mount, one wire is probably the ground wire. Use an ohm meter to test the two wires and find out if one is a ground wire. If so, it probably has a large ring connector that goes under the nut that holds the horn on.

Good Luck

2003 vz800 was in a small fire. Looks as tho only some burnt wiring. Replaced the main wire harness and now the fuel pump clicks on ignition and the neutral light does not come on when it's in neutral

The neutral light is a simple circuit ,when the ignition is on there should be a live feed to one side of the neutral light bulb holder the other side of it (earth) goes down to the neutral light switch which is earthed when the gear selector drum touches it(a bit sticks out) when in the neutral position.so it's either a fault with the switch or the wire from the switch to the bulb holder is not connected or there's no live feed to the bulb.you can just take the wire off the switch and touch it on a clean piece of the engine with no paint or lacquer on it if the neutral light comes on then the switch is faulty.

Nuetral switch light does come on bike does crank.i have to put kick stand up an clutch handle in to start

Your motorcycle will not start in gear if the kick stand is down. It will not start in gear if the clutch is not pulled in ... Safety features. When I say these things ... I am including crank and start as the same although some times it will crank and not start. Sometimes when you have the kick stand up and the bike in neutral and the light is on, it still will not start. This has happened to me and probably to you also. This condition exists because the kill switch is in the off position.

You say the neutral light is on ... Experienced riders will say that if the light is on, that means it (1) has power and (2) the lamp is not burned out. Few riders I know actually rely on the light to prove neutral.

Experienced riders will also say that the stand should be up and the bike should be in neutral before you try to start it. There are exceptions of course, like when you want to work on it or warm it up while you are getting dressed.

I hoped this response addresses your concern. Thanks for visiting today.

How do i replace the handlebar switch caps on a 2003 dyna low rider

The switches will have to come apart. Once apart the switches can come out of position and the caps will be over the rockers.

since this is a standard and you need to engage the clutch which basically shifts you into neutral to shift gears, this ALMOST sounds like the idle air control valve.
