Check oil on level or on kickstand?

If the stand causes the bike to lean you cannot use the stand to measure. There are center type stands on older units that hold the bike level for checking it otherwise you need assistance or a seperate stand

Should bike be on the center stand when checking the motor oil level

Place the bike on level ground with the center kickstand to make the bike level. The oil should be between the marks on the dipstick.

How do you lift a 1982 yamaha 920 virago to the center stand

Left hand on handlebar grip, right hand on handle under the seat, right foot on the centerstand lever, bike vertical on flat ground with the handlebars/front tire straight. Push down on the foot lever of the stand while lifting from the handle. Most of the work done is by pushing the lever and the lift handle is mostly for stabilizing and helping to raise the bike. This applies to all bikes and once you get the feel for it you'll find that any size bike is pretty easy to put on the stand. I can center stand my CBR1100XX while on the bike, first time was hard, but once I got it down it's fairly easy.

ON a 1980 Honda CB 650 the center stand retracts way too far up under the bike and hits the exhaust and the chain. I hjust bought the bike. I have the manual and it shows nothing for it. My guess is that...

The center stand on the bike is probably not the original stand. Just go to a commercial welding shop and have them weld a chunk of metal to the stand. The new metal should bump the frame at a chosen point, thus solving the problem.

How do i check the oil because i just bought a 2009 suzuki bulevard but there dip stick? and the dealer ship didnt give me an owners manuel

On newer model bikes there is no dipstick, just a cap.
so to check the oil level, you need to look on the engine cover itself.
there will be a sight glass, with 2 hash marks on the case .
lower line is minimum, top line is maximun

If the sight glass is too dirty, warm up the bike and then change the oil and filter.
Then watch the sight glass as you fill the oil.

if bike is equipped with a center stand, always check oil on center stand.
if no center stand then check oil with bike on kickstand.

The sight glass will be either on the right side lower engine cover
or left side lower engine cover.
it it round and about the size of a quater.

Hope to be helpful.
best regards

GS100GK 1982 How do check the oil level in the sit glass? With bick on center stand? or on the side stand

Check the oil level with the bike level, on the center stand, either before you start the engine in the morning or after it's had at least 5-10 minutes for oil to trickle down after you turn off the motor.

That's all there is to it!

R1100s 2000 65000miles After a 30min or more run upon stopping a clicking noise comes from the rear of the bike as the suspension moves. This has gone the next morning when the bike is cold.

Possibilities include:

-worn shock bushings
-worn/faulty bearings at final drive pivot point

If you have a center stand for your bike, you can do some diagnostic work yourself with the bike on the ctr. stand.

Try moving the wheel while holding it at 12 and 6 and 9 and 3 O'clock positions. Listen/feel for clicking. This would indicate a loose or defective final drive pivot bearings.

Lift the wheel from the 12 o'clock position and see if the click noise comes from the shock bushings.

Very hard to diagnose without a center stand or service stand.

Good Luck

Bike stand doesn't return

Yes , it may require some light lubricating at around the stand but first you will need to clean up throughly around the stand fittings better to use WD40 and thn some mineral oil as lubricant.
Not bad too to check the spring of its tension!
Hope this helps!

Side stand

but no part number associated with it. I was thinking possibly that the side stand on a scarabeo was from previous years and not applicable to my 08. Would anyone have any information on this? It would be great to just drop a side stand lean the bike and walk away.... rather than step off balance the bike find proper footing on the center stand lever and stomp. ,I've been wanting the side stand as well (Aprilia Lateral Stand part# 853489), but according to AF1, it is not available yet. , ,,
