Leaking something So I went to take the bike out of winter storage and when I got there, I saw a puddle under the bike. First I thought it was oil since I had just changed it before putting the bike away and since it was my first time changing oil on a bike I thought maybe I didn't tighten the bolt enough or something. The puddle wasn't very big so I don't think it leaked a lot so I went to start the bike. The first thing I noticed was the clutch grip was completely loose. Made sure the bike was in neutral and started it anyway. It had issues starting but eventually did... it would not stay running if I didn't give it some gas though. After letting it run for about a minute, I look down and I see some liquid leaking on the ground pretty quickly (and a lot of it!) so I turn the bike off. The liquid seemed to be coming from everywhere but I did notice that it also was coming out through the small crack that I circled in the picture below (except it's on the other side of the bike, just couldn't find a picture showing that side). This seems kind of odd to me since it's so high up. I'm not very mechanically enclined so I'm not sure what the liquid is. It was yellow and had a smell to it but it didn't smell like gasoline. Any thoughts on what is wrong? It's a R 100. Does the bike have transmission fluid and if that all leaked out, would that explain the clutch grip being all loose or is that likely a separate issue?

If ure leaking a yellowish fluid, and ure having clutch issues..... i would imagine ure leaking brake fluid from ure hydraulic lines (that acuate the clutch). Im not too familiar with those bikes so not sure if its a cable clutch or hydraulic clutch. but it sounds like hydraulic fluid.

My transmission on my 2001 flhrci suddenly started leaking. don't notice leakage when bike is upright

Clean all oil from the bike exterior. Leave it sitting in an upright position for a period of time. This may require a bike lift or other such device. Then look for leak source. Make sure oil level is not too high. When changing oil it often gets on the cross member and may leak when on the jiffy satnd for a while until it is all gone from this area. Make sure to always use thread sealant and a good o-ring on the drain plug.

Puddle of oil in case when not in use. If using it then shut off and sit it down leaves puddle of oil where it was sitting.

There will always be an amount of oil on the bottom of the saw, the oiling system is a constant loss system ie onto the chain and away, there are many places for the oil spray to sit in covers, which when sat will drip out, they rely on saw dust to dry the oil up, however if there is not a great deal of saw dust about the oil will not get dryed up and will drip under the saw.Unless the oil leak is excessive i would leave well alone.

1998 shadow aero 1100. The dealer put almost an extra litre too much oil and now I am leaking steady. I drained the extra oil but the leak continues. I don't think it's coming from the drain plug or the...

Most likely the breather tube has filled your air box with oil. If it has , you may need to replace your air filter. If you look under the motor you will see tubes in front of your rear wheel. The tubes that are capped are called pollution tubes. these need to be emptied periodically. Place a pan under the tube and pull the plug and all the nasty junk will pour out. If there is a lot of oil this may be the source. Replace the plug. Wash your bike with an engine degreaser, then take it for a short drive. Be sure you rev the motor up with some hard acceleration. Then look it over carefully to see the location of the leak. If the bike was run with too much oil the crankcase breather was probably not breathing correctly and blew out a piece of a cover gasket high on the motor. If the gasket had blown out below the oil level you would have a puddle under your bike. If a seal was pushed out you may be able to press it back in. If damaged , replacing the seal may be the only option.

Bar oil leaks into storage case when chainsaw not in use???? Poulan Prow, PP4620 AVX 46 cc

The easy fix is to drain the oil tank when not in use. Many saws will leak some oil initially, but should not continue to do so. If it is making a large puddle, oil is getting past the oil pump which may be worn from long use. Make sure the tank vent is not plugged as heat from the engine can increase pressure in the tank thus forcing oil out. Hope this helps!

Bikes been in storage for 4 years

Your oil pan where you normally drain the oil when changing it IS the crankcase. I would also drain any gas from the fuel tank(s) and put fresh gas in it, and you will probably need a new battery.

LEAKING

Is your bike water cooled? It could be anti-freeze. It it were fuel it will not puddle, it will evaperate too quick. Anti-freeze will puddle, and has variuos colors. Also taste it, if it has a sweet taste it is anti-freeze. Just bearly dip you finger in the fluid and just touch the tip of the tounge. If it were oil it would be dark. Hope this helps you.
