SOURCE: What causes premature wear in the rings and bore of BMW K75s?

the K75 has very reliable engine .. its unusual for it to fail in this way .. the frozen rings would suggest overheating and thats possible if the radiator fan fails (that happens often before your 80,000) .. many of the pre 1990 k75s would smoke after storing for awhile .. that was a ring gap positioning problem .. that was corrected in newer models .. the smoke however would not have damaged the cylinders .. maybe in the extreme could foul a plug .. is it possible that someone put something in your gas tank ??.. or could it have been run without oil/water or perhaps the wrong type oil (like transmission fluid) ... that engine should have lasted longer than most cars .. nice smooth bike ..

SOURCE: 316 bmw compact, runs rough some times, engine sign

check for a wet ecu may be corroded...

the ecu compartment is under the windshield on the passenger side on E36

you gain acess to it under the hood....
this compartment gets wet, the ecu lays on a flat surface in that
compartment.

the bottom side of the circuit board gets wet and starts corrosion.

remove the ecu, take the bottom plate off, clean the bottom of the circuit
board with alcohol and a soft tooth brush.

you should be able to see the signs of corrosion or conductive build up.

this gunk bridges solder points doing all sort s of wierd things to your
car, including false sensor readings from asc/abs controllers and other
sensors....

all the way to engine failure and worst case burnt and shorted wiring
harness.

I'm on my 3rd ecu, took me and the repair boys a few years to figure this
one out.

BTW: i would get that ecu mounted above that flat surface, use some sort
of standoff to raise it so that it is not laying in the wet.

What would cause my 2001 vw passat to miss on 3rd cylinder it runs very ruff

Could be a head gasket being blown . Or spark plug lead or crock ignition coil depending on design. Get a compression test on the cylinders to check gasket .

We think that it stopped running due to no fuel. the engine ran rough ever since. Seems to be flooding to the point that fuel was getting into the oil in the sump. Running rough ever since.

Get a cylinder compression test done to check head gasket and to check head is not warped or cracked.
if head gasket or head problem = one cylinder may be affected causing fuel could get into the oil via a blown head gasket. if one cylinder not firing it would run rough.

Has the engine been over heated recently ?

My 93 ford f250 5.8L started missing. I changed plugs wires cap rotar and coil but still missing

You may have a blown head gasket or burnt valve. Run a compression test on all cylinders. If you find one or more that is low then there is your miss.

2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee (63,000 mi - V8) Check engine light indicates #1 cylinder misfiring. Spent $$ getting system flushed for carbon residue. Drove 3 weeks, started up, ran rough, and light came on...

The miss, does not just come and go,if it is a engine valve, replace the coil and boot,go from there,if this does not solve the problem, then the injector is gone out,or going out.If it is a engine valve, the miss would never get better, then worse,it would be the same all the time, get him to run a air compression test, get the valves up(close)and see if any air is detected threw the exhaust,or the intake,it will be present if the valve is the problem.

Cylinder number 3 misfire

It can be a bad spark plug, plug wire, burnt valve, blown head gasket, or worn piston rings. Replace the spark plugs and plug wires and see if the miss goes away. If it does not then have a compression test run on the engine. In addition if you are loosing coolant with no apparent leak, and you see white smoke coming from the exhaust you may have a blown head gasket which will cause a miss.

My head gaskit was burn and I most change it.

DO YOU MEAN YOUR HEAD GASKET HAS BURNT OR BLOWN AND LETTING WATER INTO THE ENGINE.
Or has the gasket blown and engine missing on a cylinder,, and if so does the engine overheat/loosing water/running rough/white smoke out the exhaust pipe when you start up/and how long has it been diong it..
Must know the answers to all of the above so we can give you the correct answers...ASAP.. RON
