SOURCE: yz125 no spark

G'day i am a . YZ 125 j ...lets see now! You could perform these tests yourself.Check your plug CAP,if in doubt replace it with a new one. Take the below ohm figures and see if they match up. Pulse coil: white/blue and white/red= 310 ohms. low speed coil: Green/white and Black/red= 900 ohms. high speed coil: Green/blue and black= 55 ohms. hope this has helped in some way to helping you solve your problem. If it has please leave feed back.Ride hard , see ya,Tabbycat

SOURCE: My yamaha yz 250 ruins spark plugs in about 5 min

first determine condition of cylinder by a compression test. if compression is ok, you are either running too rich of a fuel/oil mixture, slow running or idling too much, "2 strokes are not meant to idle very much without "cleaning out" or revving the engine to rid itself of carbon buildup from excessive oil burn. you may also want to try running a hotter plug. go up one heat range ,"down in number" at a time. if your not familiar with doing this, ou could overheat your engine. so be careful!

SOURCE: backfire

Your plug may be firing in a fouled area. When I have a problem like this, I 1.change the plug. 2. Take the carb and have it cleaned in a sonic bath and my honda dealer(They are the only one with this cleaner in my area) for about $25. 3. Check to insure that the fuel mixture screw is set correctly(about 2.5 turns), and 4.clean the air filter or replace it.

My yz 250 will start with a roll start,but I can't

Not sure of the age of your YZ 250 ( You never said!) but in most Yamaha they use dual stage stator which means a stator will charge a spark plug at two speeds one on kick starter speed and the other on running speeds it is common that the low speed circuit on the stator to fail leaving you with a bike that only starts when pushed its a very simple test to diagnose it be worth checking you have spark on kick starter speeds with spark plug out the motor but still connected

Why does my yz250 2stoke start then stop

First place I would look after all the obvious such as spark plug good fuel good reasonable compression if the bike starts fine and runs for few minutes then dies the number one issue I have seen to do this would be the stator they have high speed and low speed circuits in them and if the high speed circuit is failling the second it warms up a little you will lose spark at the plug there is very simple test to check the stator but is difficult to explain here you need in short the OHMS reading form the stator

My yz 250f just died on me in the air an will not start I can push the kick start down with my hand seems like the top end is blown I'm not sure any ideas

Sorry to hear your bike stopped - There are way to many possibilities for this but the best advice i can give would be two things, (1) get a leak down test done (at shop if you don't have tools to do this) It will give accurate answers to if compression is low or valves are leaking etc (2) Check to see if you have spark to spark plug by kick starting bike with the spark plug connected and laying on the head of motor ( should be a nice clean blue spark)
if you have no spark then almost guarantied you need a new stator installed but this can be easily tested with a multimeter to confirm before you buy new stator let me know if you want more detail on tests etc
good luck mate regards Jamie

No spark

There's a few areas of concern here but by far the most common for older YZ is the stator has low or NO resistance there for does not generate when kicked over
I am assuming you have tried new plug before posting your question?
it is very easy to test stator if you have a reasonably decent multer meter let me know if you want more info on testing or you may wish to take to a shop and they test it for you... Good luck!

How can i check a stator coil if i suspect its defective ,this is used on a yahaha boat engine

These stators YZ 2003 you can replace for about $150 (ebay) truth is unless you have the meter to test i you cant test only guess from the symptom such as most common is engine dies once warm
then to take somewhere to be tested they no doubt will charge when ever I suspect it I just replace it and eliminate the possible problem especially on a older bike 05 or older.

Will getting wy stator wet on yfz 250 make it not fire

Initially yes, but as water is spun off the rotor and air movement dries the single contact area where currents are picked up, the spark will return. Check the cleanliness of the pick-up coil and spray some pentrating water reppellant in the rotor and stator coils. Turning the engine over a lot without spark may also pick up some excess fuel/oil or carbon deposits and foul the sparkplug.
Cheers!

I have a 07 YZ 250 F..Was starting to run poorly, like it was lossing power..I just purchased the bike from some one who said it was just rebuilt..Checked compressoin and was a litttle low 60 psi. Removed...

I would start by making sure you have the stator pluged in all the way sometimes these are hard to get completly plugged in. Then test the stator and coil with an OHMs meter to determine which is bad. No need to buy parts you may not need get them tested or test them so you know for sure what is bad.

I got a 01 yz 250 it gets spark every once in a

if the coils and CDIs have been replaced, you may want to check your wiring, this is usually caused by a damaged like grounding the frame and affecting the spark.
