Question about 2006 kawasaki KX 250 F

2006 Kawasaki KX 250 F oil leaking out the breather tube

I also have a 2006 KX250F. My bike is losing oil out of the breather tube. I Just replaced the cases with a used one, complete transmission, bearings, seals, piston set, timing chain, and gaskets. I fill the oil until it is in the center of the sight glass and when I am done riding it is no longer visible (when the bike is shut down). I have 1500 in parts alone and really don't want to blow it up. Can anyone please help me @

Hi, Phillip and the usual suspects are:
1. Oil tank/system overfilled.
2. Faulty breather valve.
3. Engine breather hose bent, pinched, kinked etc.
4. Air filter has too much "pre-oil".
5. Crankshaft seal failure allowing transmission fluid to migrate.
6. Blow by drain tube cracked/split or filled to capacity.

SOURCE: 2006 KX250F blowing oil out breather should I be concerned?

hi
ther is a chance that being over filled will blow out of the crank breather so drain off to the correct level if then the bike still does this then you have to high crank presure meaning the bore and piston/rings are badly worn
thanks jay

2010 Kawasaki KX250F where should the oil level be on the site glass

Hi, Tayler if you are experiencing excessive oil coming out of the crankcase breather or air filter please drain all engine oil and replace half of the same oil that comes out. Many riders are overfilling their oil system because they do not know how to properly read their oil site glass or dipstick. The following procedure works on nearly all 4 stroke engines but to be on the safe side you should refer to your owners manual. Use your center stand if you have one.
1. Bring the engine up to operating temperature or let idle for 5 minutes.
2. Turn off your engine and let it sit for 2 minutes, this will allow the oil from the top end to drain to the bottom.
3. Hold your bike straight up or on the center stand and wait 2 minutes for the oil in the bottom of the engine to be level in the sight glass or on the dipstick.
4. Your oil level should be between the top full mark and the bottom add oil mark.
5. Never overfill your oil system it will cause problems:
a. oil leaking out of exhaust pipes.
b. oil leaking out of breather pipe/hose.
c. oil carryover into the air cleaner.
6. Your oil site glass must "NEVER" be completely full or empty drain or add oil as necessary.
7. Your oil dipstick must "NEVER" be over the full mark and should never be below the add mark drain or add oil as needed.

Harley said i have a wet clutch added oil they recommended through derby cover now oil comming out of breather tube??? don't want to ruin anything shut it off and started searching on line ...only got...

Your 04 Electra Glide does indeed have a wet clutch. Your primary case holds between 36 - 42 ounces of oil. Stand the bike straight up. Remove the derby cover from the primary cover. The oil level should be just up to the bottom edge of the outer clutch shell, the shiny aluminum ring. Do not over fill as the clutch will drag and you will not be able to get the transmission into neutral with the engine running. Now you said that you have oil coming out of the breather tube. What breather tube? The transmission has a breather tube but that's the only one. Your engine's crankcase breathers are located in the heads and exhausts the crankcase pressure into the air filter. This is required by the EPA. After a while, oil mist will build up in the air cleaner cover and begin to drip out. You have to clean this out from time to time. Your transmission holds 20-24 ounces of oil and you fill it through the chrome end cap on the transmission on the right hand side of the bike. There is a plug that takes a large hex key or Allen wrench to remove. It has a dipstick on it. With the bike standing straight up, the oil level should be between the two lines.

Good Luck
Steve
