Since you have thrown the entire ignition system at it, let's think about fuel. If you were running out of gas it would act as you described. I would start by removing the float bowl. Be careful not to spill any gas because we want to look at the level. It should be over half full. Check the float movement. You should be able to push it up without resistance. Looking from the bottom remove the phillips screw that retains the float axle and the float and needle valve should fall out. If the needle valve has three sides or if the rubber tip is worn, replace it. The 3 sided valves have a tendancy to stick closed and all dealer stock should be the 4 sided version by now. After you re-install the float, leave the bowl off and follow the small vacuum hose from the petcock to the carb. Pull it off at the carb end. Look to make sure it isn't damaged. **** lightly (sorry) or use a vacuum pump on the hose. With the petcock on and gas in the tank, a healthy stream of fuel should pour from the needle valve. If not, the petcock diapragm is shot. If none of this helps, take it for a ride and when it acts up, crack the fuel cap loose and if it takes off the vent in the cap is malfunctioning.

Start with the basics, (****, Squeeze, Bang, Blow).
Check fuel is getting to cylinder.
Check Spark plugs by holding on cylinder head and cranking see if sparks.
check compression, should be approx same across all cylinders usually about 120-140 psi at a guess. I have had an older engine still running fine with 100 psi. (Workshop manula tells exact limits)
Check exhaust is clear some idiot could have blocked it for a laugh!
check air filter is fairly clean. Oil type can be cleaned paper type are disposable. I would initial just hoover it if its a paper one.
If you have a spark and fuel and compression and it still plays up check the ht leads are in good condition, even dirty plugs can arc to earth loosing the vital spark needed. Older coils do tend to break down particularly yamaha ones! I do not know where triumph source there parts but i know it is from various countries.
Hope this helps a bit

SOURCE: engine missing/ backfiring, no pulling power
Hi I am vortash sounds to me like an ignition lead short check that the leads on the pot are not sparking to earth effectively cutting off the spark to one cylinder ( electricity takes the shortest point to earth so wont reach the plug if sparking to the cylinder ) I think youll find if it was the Kick stand sensor it wouldnt even fire up .. ? check all your HT circuit for damp or damaged leads .. hope this is of help regrads Vortash

You could have fried the electronics by jump starting the bike. BMW do not recommend jump starting. They only suggest a new battery. You will need a diagnostic check. You have probably fried one or two diodes that sit under the tank. Not too expensive but until check is done you cannot tell.

If the bike has sat for a long period of time without being run - the gas that is sitting in the carb(s) will shellac.. Then the carb(s) would need to be cleaned and "rebuilt"..
