2001 ZX9R E2. Headlamps do not come on when engine started. Both bulbs replaced, no change (on dip or main beams). Fuses checked, no problems. Con checks on wiring done as far as possible (that which is accessible under the seat) all OK and no obvious signs of wiring loom damage or shorting as far as I can see. All other electrics and lighting not affected. No other items changed.
About to hand it over to the money pit that is the Kawasaki dealer.
I have Kawasaki ZX9R F2 2003 version. My headlights stopped working and Front signal lights at same time. I have taken the bike apart looking for a problem. So far all fuses are in order, no splits on cables, fuses, bulbs and relays all working. Stator and Rectifier definately all working OK as battery is charging at 14v when engine is on. No other electrical faults but this one. I have checked Starter Switch and HIGH/LOW switch - all seams to be in order. Maybe I'm still missing something. After reading so many Blogs about the issue it seams like it's comon fault on these but no one has posted difinate solution. Did anyone have this problem and solved it with a fix that worked.
I had the same problem with Headlights not coming on, after doing a con checking on all wires which was good. four hours later and a massive attitutde. Found that it was a bad HIGH/LOW SWITCH. Check your high/low switch
Hi,
Depending on the version/region of intended use, Kawasakis have a 4 pin headlight relay. In some versions, this would be located on or near the battery enclosure. additionally, again on some versions, there would be smaller relays and a diode matrix underneath the fuse bank.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

The Kawasaki dealer had it for half a day and said they fixed it (after grafting a new wire into the loom). I went to collect it only to find that the problem had reappeared so they took it back.
They had it all day and have just asked to jeep it in another day as they can't figure it out.

SAME DAMN THING! cant figure it out..has anyone actually figured out what the solution is? i have a 2000 zx-6r and the little light that comes on with the key has power, but not the headlights after you hit the ignition. with some common sense, you would think it is a relay of some sort....
