The gear stick has no resistance, I can only select two gears and it feels like Im stirring porridge when I do try and select a gear.

What year is your Toyota? By 'stick gear' do you mean a manual gearbox?
What exactly does it do when you try to select a gear? Is the stick loose and doesn't feel like it's not getting any gears? Does it make a 'crunching' noise?
A Loose and Sloppy stick is possibly the linkages and cables from the stick to the actual gearbox. If a link fails you will lose 1 or more gears as the connections have become loose or broken.
A 'Crunching' or a 'Grinding' noise is commonly a worn or failed clutch.

I would pull the shifter out and check for worn parts.

Are you sure that your gears are actually engaging. Do you feel resistance (however slight) when you select a gear including reverse gear. If it is a manual gearbox, then either the gears are not actually being selected and that could be something like a broken linkage or the clutch is not releasing when you let your foot off the pedal. The clutch problem could be rectified by adjusting the cable, if fitted, or the actuating mechanism is stuck in and not releasing the clutch. Does the pedal feel soft or in an unusual position.
It will be a dirty job to find and rectify the problem so may well be best left to a mechanic.

Most probably it needs new gear selector links.

change your clutch fluid

Have the clutch inspected.

look on top back of gearbx and i think one of your tie linkages has come off

either clutch not clearing or the pressure plate has failed ,either way its gearbox out job as the slave cylinder is inside the bellhousing

try adjusting the clutch.

ecu in gear box is faulty need to replace ecu and change gear box oil
