Honda VTR 1000 Low fuel sensor problem

Hi,
I have a 1998 Honda VTR 1000 bike and the low fuel light does not come
on, although I know the light works. Does anyone know how the low fuel
sensor in the tank works ?( or in my case doesnt work)

I removed my tank to have it painted. After installing my tank with no fuel in it the fuel warning light did not come on. I checked continuity through the sensor and it has good continuity. I do have ignition voltage to the instrument cluster.

Hi,

On most bikes, the fuel level sensor is inside the tank and basically is a dampened float. The entire assembly could be accessed beneath the tank and would be connected by a single connector with two terminals. This pair of wire would then go to the instrumentation/cluster to trigger the fuel level gauge or in your case low level sensor. Often the connector would become loose or the terminals corroded. The sensor inside the tank could be tested with a continuity tester (DVM/VOM)

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

I have taken bike apart & reassembled it however I can't see where the fuel tank sensor connects to instrumentation wiring.

1998 Honda VTR 1000 F Firestorm engine oil capacity

The 1998 Honda VTR1000F Firestorm (also known as the SuperHawk in some markets) typically requires around 3.8 liters (4.0 US quarts) of oil when performing an oil and filter change. However, it's always best to consult the owner's manual for the most accurate information regarding oil capacity and type for your specific motorcycle model. The manual will provide precise specifications recommended by the manufacturer. If you don't have access to the manual, you can often find it online through forums, enthusiast websites, or by contacting a Honda dealership.

Maybe - can you charge the battery?
If the voltage is too low, the FI won't work properly.
