Ktms run a looser chain than most bikes. The above will result in chain binding, a break, and most likely damage to the clutch hydraulic output cyl. That is no good! Overly tight chain will accelerate wear to the output shaft bearing.
follow manual EXACTLY or you will be buying that 150$ clutch part.
1 Sit on bike to takeup slack. (must be in idling gear)
2 get off
3 LIFT top chain with 15-30KG of force (look in manual, some of the EXCs are 30, some 15... SX likely same)-important step, screw it up, and something is going to get broken.
4 While pulling up on top chain, push second link behind chain slider (on bottom) upward toward swingarm with finger pressure. There should be 15mm between the top of the chain sideplate and the swingarm.
Adjust to achieve proper clearance, less than 15mm, and it will bind
Put it up on your stand lossen the axel and remove the bolt on the bottom of the shock. Then tighten your chain and lift your swingarm up until its horizontal with the ground, then the chain should have almost no play. Not completely tight, but almost no play. Tighten the axel, and the bolt on the shock, and your set,,,
