SOURCE: Brake light does not always work with front brake - Ninja 250

Check the wiring connections to the front brake switch. If all OK, then it could be the switch.

SOURCE: 00 CBR F4 brake lights dont come on when applied

Have you tried powering the brak circuit itself at bulb. If it comes on then you need to find broken wire between light and switches. Since neither work if you can trace to where they meet break should be behind that.

Follow the brake line from the rear of the rear brake master cylinder until you get to a round metal thing with two wires attached to it screwed into a Tee fitting. This is the rear brake light switch.

SOURCE: how to replace front brake

Just take your old line off and replace it with the new line. Be careful because the brake fluid will damage your paint if it's DOT 4. One you have replaced the brake line, fill the master cylinder with the proper brake fluid. Open the bleeder valve and let gravity do it thing. Usually once the fluid starts to flow out of the bleeder valve, all the air is gone as well.

But if the brake lever still feels spongy or no brake at all, first bleed the master cylinder. Squeeze the hand lever and hold it while you loosen the union bolt on the end of the master cylinder. Once the pressure bleeds off, close the valve and repeat the process until you get no air bubbles. Then, move down to the brake caliper and do the same thing until you get no air and a full brake lever. You must do it in this order exactly. Squeeze the lever, open the valve, close the valve, let go of the lever. Do not allow the master cylinder to run dry during the bleeding process.

Good Luck
Steve

The brake light on my Honda motorcycle is not working from front brake handle, how do I fix this?

The brake light switch for the front brake is pressure-actuated. Is the reservoir low or empty?
Also, check to verify that the connector has not corroded, preventing the flow of current.

Check the wiring under the rear fender for damage. Check the bulb by replacement. Check for 12 volts at the rear brake light switch. Check for blown fuses.

Why wont my brake lights not work

Check the wiring underneath the rear fender for damage especially if you are running a wider than stock rear tyre. The rear tyre comes in contact with the loom and wears through it. Also check for 12 volts at the rear brake light switch. I will assume that you have checked the bulb by replacement and also checked all fuses.

I have a 2007 Harley FXD has no brake lights from handle bars or foot pedals. Checked wiring from light to underrneath seat and it is ok, bulbs were replaced and new. All other lights work. Any...

Chances are the plunger on the front brake switch is either broken or sticking. Either way, you will probably need to replace the switch. The rear switch has two electrical connections with spade terminals. Make sure the connections are hooked up and clean. If all is good electrically, you will need to replace the rear switch.

Tail light and foot pedal brake light does not work but hand lever brake light works.

Probably a bulb/ rear brake switch combination. If your front brake switch is working, then half of the bulb is working. No taillight issue, probably a bulb. No rear brake light, probably the rear brake switch. Located on the lower right rear of the frame, behind the exhaust. Check for power on the orange/white wire at switch. If you have that then check for power on the other terminal of the switch while pushing on the pedal. The rear brake switch is hydraulically operated so you must have adequate pressure to activate it.

Rear brake light will not work when brake pedal is applied, both front and rear brakes run through same sensor front brake applies rear light, but rear brake pedal doesnt. where is the problem?

It sounds like the rear brake pressure switch is bad. The wires for the front brake light switch are wired in parallel to the this switch. Replace the pressure switch in the metal brake line coming from the rear brake master cylinder going to the rear brake caliper.

I have a yamaha r1 2007 and the brake light doesn't light up when you pull the brake lever. What could the problems be?

Does it work fine with rear brake just not with front? If so...inspect the brake switch on the front lever...might be loose so the lever can't press against it.....or remove lever and inspect how the switch is activated (lever presses against it or moves away) and try moving the plunger by hand.
Could also be a loose connection on wiring to the switch.

If neither front or rear work...check fuses, light socket and wiring to the light.
Wiring damage under the seat is common on many models of bikes...the wires get moved then pinched under the seat.

Brake light on dash stays lite. What does this

There is a pressure sensing switch on the master cylinder that will turn on this indicator light on the dash if there is enough of a pressure difference between the front brakes vs the rear brakes. It would be a good idea to check brake system for leaks and fluid level.
Sometimes it's just a matter of readusting the switch by having someone hold pressure on the brake pedal while you slightly bleed either the front or back brake line at the master cylinder. Be sure you are confident you are knowledgeable to handle this... you don't want braking problems afterward... Good luck and be careful.
