SOURCE: poulan 3400 chainsaw throttle trigger

Its a missing or broken spring in the handle(trigger). If you look inside the handle you should see a circular spring around the post of the trigger. This spring returns trigger to idle position. If its missing or broken the trigger won't spring back.

SOURCE: High Idle

The Throttle screw is located on the throttle (obiously) its in a clinderical shaped channel located on the throttle just oposite or obliquely opposite the the throttle body position sensor. In some mazda vehicles (IN TRINIDAD) you need to loosen the throttle body position sensor and slightle adjust it eighter to the right or left to tuen the idle (For electronic controlled axcelleration) in some cases it can be adjusted via an ODB2 diagnostic tool (only in some vehicles that has electronic controlled axcelleration)

You can tell what type your vehicle is by looking for an axcelleration cable connected to the throttle body. If the throttle body has a cable it isnt electronically controlled and has an idling screw. If there is no cable but wires to the position sensor its electronic.

SOURCE: Check engine light is on and high idle (1500rpm)

Some times the E.G.R. will stick half open. This will make the engine surge or have high idle. Try replaceing the E.G.R. located under the upper intake. Do not go with after market E.G.R. The spring in them are to powrefil and the E.G.R. wil not open. Also try replaceing the O2 sensors. This could give the engine more fuel thus a higher idle. Some vehicles the T.P.S. can be ajusted, do some checking to see if yours is adjustable.

Please contact me if your problem presists.
Thanks, Charlie

Sounds like your idle mixture is too lean. Does your bike pop on decel? Try adjusting your mixture screw out 1 turn to richen your idle mixture.

How to fix surging

Very old thread but here goes., My 2400is was surging under light load but I was able to fix that with a new idle jet and thorugh carb cleaning. Now, it doesn't respond to various loads and will not rev up, ie., stays at idle and quits. Manually opening the throttle works fine. I took out the solenoid and cleaned the spindle but didn't help. When it was out, turning it had some resistance (felt like a rehostat, a bit rough and definitely not spinning freely) . Dunno how it should feel but, for example, with the engine not running if I move the throttle (controlled by the solenoid) it will "stick" in that position and not return to the idle position by the return spring. Would like to know if that's normal or not! With the engine running, it will return to the idle position and I use a clothespin to keep the revs up even under no load. At least that way it stays running and supplies adequate power.
Ideas?

I have a 202 GSX1300R and it won't idle.

Is the engine running at high idle or are you having to hold the throttle open to keep it running? If it stays at high idle on it's own be sure that when you push the choke back to the "off" position, check your linkages and be sure that the choke cam is returning to the low idle position, also be certain that your throttle grip operates without obstruction when returning to idle position. If you are having to hold the throttle open to keep the engine running you are probably going to find carburetor issues. Hope this help to get you looking in the right direction.

How do i adjust the idle on my 1995 yamaha virago 1100 cc motorcycle?

On most bikes and four wheelers, this is done by a throttle stop. the position of the stop is usually adjusted by a screw. Remove the tank. turn throttle and see what moves by the carb/ injectors. When you return throttle to idle, the moving piece will come to rest on the throttle stop. You can now adjust its position by turning that screw.
