Door open! My Whirlpool 6100 will not work....keeps telling me that the door is open! The door "clicks shut" when I shut the door. It tries and starts, then flashes "door open" what is wrong with it??

check if the door is closed because it is very sensitive closing mechanism for reasons of security so sometimes you see that the door is closed but in reality it is not closed well

Might be the door lock

Very possible the door latching mechanism is faulty because when door is closed the contacts in the switch will see condition is correct for operation and light will extinguish. With power plug pulled out, remove the lid and buy using a small screwdriver try and wedge the doot latch open from the inside. Possibly it will need to be broken off to remove. Once off, door will open then replace with new one.

I think it may have try and get your local engineer out to have a quick look tell your thinking of buying new and what price can he supply 4. and you like a free estimate .

I would make sure the door latch and door lock are both clean and free of debris as this will cause the machine to fault out from the latch not hitting the switch properly. If cleaning it thourghly doesn't do the trick you may need a new door latch/lock mechanism.

Do you hear the valve opening at the back of the fridge click when you push for water?
If not ....it may need to be replaced.
If you do hear a click.....the water line may be frozen in the freezer door.
Open the door wide open for a while......1 to 2 hours and occasionally try the water.....cover the freezer compartment with towels to keep the cold in that area but not the door.

How old is the oven? Did this problem just start? If this is an older oven, and it started having this problem recently, it sounds like the door is bent slightly. Enough to keep the light on. Anyone put weight on the open door, (or as I saw once, someone trip and land on an open dishwasher door, which didn't shut properly afterwards) You can get a piece of paper, put it at the top corner of the door opening, try pulling it out. Try this all around the opening, you should be able to tell where it doesn't close properly. U might be able to 'tweek' it, by trying to bend it to close tighter at the largest gap, BUT this could make it worse, or if it has a glass panel, u might break it. My front loader has the door locked and I can't open it. I have already turned off the power and that didn't solve the problem. The manual says that if you try to open the door too soon after the cycle completes, then the door locks. How do I open it now? What do I do?
