Kymco 550 starting problems @

Having problems starting my Kymco 500 it will start with starter fluid added. I put new gas in and once started ran it around to operating temp but soon after you turn it off it will not crank on its own.I think spark is there and if you pull back on throdle while starting it hits some.

I did drain the battery the first time so I charged it back at 2amp12v charge. that is when I tried the starting fluid in the breather. it started slowly (hits and misses like its flooded the finally catches)not like normal( push button starter engages and poof its running) this starting problem is only seince it has turned colder.

I took it to the service center they said it was not starting because the fule pump and ignitghter box wer not both turning on when the key was turned on all the time. they replaced the wireing harness and then still had issues so they sent for ignition switch. Have had two come in but nether is right one for unit with abs.. still waiting for a solution... two months.. I think this could be a lemon law case.

If battery is MF (sealed) then an ordinary charger will fry it.
A good battery will have at least 12.6volts across it when fully charged & around 11 volts when cranking

I jusst purchased a 2009 XCiting 500 and I seem to have a similar problem. It has 0 miles on it when I bought it, so it's basically brand new. I put the key in and turn it to On. The oil light comes on. But when I squeeze the left brake and attempt to start there's a single click and nothing. After a few tries the battery light comes on. Also, there's a little yellow light to the right of the fuel gauge that comes on, but there is no mention of this light in the owner's manual. Could the batter be dead? If so, what would be the best charger for it? Thanks.

Figured it out - dead battery. I learned today that to jump start it, DON'T start your car. The power of the car battery is enough.

Starter spinning freely but wont engage engine to start if it did it starts up fine.

Sounds like your pinion/bendix gear is not reliably extending fully to engage the flywheel. There are three common causes of this: (most common) Dried up grease or dirt on the threads of the starter shaft and the pinion/bendix. Failing overrunning/one-way clutch in the bendix
replace starter.

2004 Nissan Maxima 3.5L, the car ran out of gas, I put some gas, the car did not start, I sprayed some starter fluid but the car still won't start. What could the problem be?

First any chance the vehicle could have gotten rodent damage, chewed wires, where it was parked while it was dead? I would check for spark if the starter fluid is doing nothing

Won't start

Year-old fuel? I'd start with syphoning that out and putting in some new gas. Maybe spray some carb cleaner and starter fluid in the carbs (unless it's fuel injected? - I'll bet it's not.) You may have to eventually need to pull 'em out and clean 'em. usually involves sticking a piece of thin wire through some jet you pull out. Compressed air from a compressor would be handy. Again, start with the fresh gas.

I have a Kymco cross cobra having trouble starting. Will only start if i put starter fluid in the cylinder first. help

Definetly a fuel issue in carb. You need to remove the carb and ensure that the pilot jet (in the float chamber at base of carb) is clear by carefully unscrewing it with a decent screwdriver. If it is clear then you need to be checking the float level in carb.

1987 Ecoline van V-8 engine hasn't been started in about 7 years. It ran good before that. What do I have to do first to start it and get it running?

I would change all the fluids and either try dry gas or i would recommend that the gas tank be thoroughly drained and new gas put in the tank.If you have a hard time getting started try to use starter fluid in carburetor or if you have none just use gas. If the vehicle is equipped with fuel injectors locate air filter and follow air duct to engine that is where starter fluid or gasoline will have to be pored to prime the injectors.if it don't start the engine should be tuned up with a major tune up replace all filters ect even if it starts without tune up i would tune it up asap!

! have a Troy built mower with a Honda engine, it quit running and will not start. I changed the spark plug, it ran for about one hour. Now the mower will not start.

Hello. If the gas has been sitting all winter, remove it with a siphoning bulb and put in brand new gas, not even gas that you have been storing all winter. Also, change your air filter. Finally get a can of starter fluid and a helper. While one person squirts a bit of starter fluid into the air intake [near the air filter] the other person starts it and use more squirts of starter fluid to keep it running. Joe
