Been in accident and repaired? Check all sensors are plugged in and all earth wires have been reconnected. Does it splutter and die or just cut straight out? If just cut straight out it will be a sensor/computer fault.

Check the cap on the fuel tank as sometime they fail and wont let air back into the tank as fuel is used. The vehicle will run for a while hen cut out as a vacuum form in the tank After it has been stopped for while air leaks back into the tank it will start and run for a short time
try turning key swicth on and off several times if you replaced fuel filter it may have to reprime its self turn key on let pump run turn off turn on again do it 4 or 5 times might help
Replace the MAF sensor. The starter is overheating due to cranking excessively. It has noyhing to do with the engine staying running. The MAF sensor is located as the first sensor out of air cleaner. It controls the fuel. Good luck and have a safe trip.
Replace the idle air control valve. Mine just did it today the 15th of August. I replace the Idle air control valve and problem solve. I have a 2000 Expedition 5.4 liter.
No its easy . here are the steps turn ignition to acc/ first turn hold reset button located next to odometer rest button. Hold this button for 30 seconds. then turn ignition to next turn/click where lights come on on the dash ex brake air bag etc. hold for another 30 seconds.
