So i rode my bike to work the other day and it was running fine i turned it off the at the end of my day went to start it i checked the light on dash said it was in neutral i hit start and it launched forward i just managed to keep hold of it. Then i couldnt get it out of gear so i started it with the clutch in and i could hear something rattling inside the clucth housing. iv opened the housing and nothing is obviously loose or missing and i cant see anything floating around. Any ideas??
SOURCE: something is rattling in tranny or engine?
Its worth openning again the side cover and re-inspect that nut, not bad too if you can remove the clutch basket taking care of the plates as how they are fitted so that you don't get confused on assembling.
Check for the wear on the basket where the clutch plates go in and are thn driven especially those notches, check too the gear that mashes with the clutch system for any wear and not bad to check the springs too in the clutch basket.
Hope this helps .
SOURCE: shifter lever broken...
It sounds like you bent the shift fork, or at least the shaft that penetrates the case and holds the shift lever on the outside. If you are certain you are moving the shaft and the bike won't come out of first then you will have to open up the case and see what is bent or broken inside.
SOURCE: I have a 1996 Vulcan 88 1500. Cranks but will not start.
Is there gas? Is the petcock on? Are you getting gas to the carbs? Are you getting spark? If yes to all these then you may have timing issues.
SOURCE: with the bike in gear and the clutch engage, the
Clutch discs are stuck, put the bike in gear, not running, pull in the clutch and push the bike back and forth to break the clutches loose. Once they break loose start the engine put the bike in gear, hold the front brake, and slip the clutch a little to remove any built up or stuck crud on the plates.
