SOURCE: harley davidson springer front end

adjustment is in rockers, not springs; take it to a qualified tech; its not hard but does take practice and knowledge of what you are doing that is pretty tricky to convey in a chat room; springers are cool but very maintenance intensive; don't slack on it, it can be very dangerous...T

Worry about it if water shows up where it shouldn't. Otherwise don't loose any sleep over it.

Front end shakes, tie rod and upper ball joints have been replaced

Very little info for a fix. Tie rod and upper ball joints do not make a front end shake. Lower ball joints wear out before the uppers do.
Front end shakes at what speed, if you have a broken belt in one of your front tires you will notice it more at low speeds. Mud or snow stuck in wheel will make them vibrate at speed. Lug nuts tight since front end work? You need to give more info. Switch front tires with back tires. If shake is in steering wheel it more than likely is front end but if you feel it in your seat it is more than likely in the rear of the car.

What causes the front end to shakes back and forth inside the neck?

Hi ryanwfields...
Check your tightness on the nut that tightens the front end to the frame, if it is loose it will cause the problem you describe.

I HAVE A NEW 2011 HERITAGE SOFTTAIL AND WISH TO ADJUST THE REAR SHOCK BUT CANNOT LOCATE THE ADJUSTER

The adjusters are on the shocks that are underneath the bike. There are two adjustments. One is a nut on the shock stem that adjusts the height of the bike and the other is end plate of the shock with the holes in it. This adjusts the preload of the shocks. You need a special tool to adjust the preload.

What is the torque specs for the nut on the bearings on the triple tree

You have an adjuster nut that you have to tighten just until you don't have any freeplay in the bearing and then the upper triple tree goes on. The pinch bolt tightens to 21-27 foot pounds. The fork stem nut tightens to 35-40 foot pounds according to the manual that I have here. I've found that if you torque the nut that tight, it will tighten the adjustment of the steering head bearings and they'll start to "count". When a bearing is "counting", it is too tight and you can feel it bump from one roller to the next as you turn the front end. If it starts this, you'll have to loosen the fork nut and back off on the adjuster and then retighten the fork nut. Recheck for bearing adjustment. Not "counting" and no shake in the steering head. It's touchy so be patient. I've had to simply tighten the fork stem nut until I got the right tension and disregard the torque setting as long as it felt like it was tight enough not to come loose.

Good Luck

My Kenmore Elite Front Loading Washer is shaking very bad when it's on the spin cycle. When i level it, it's ok for a while but slowly goes back to skaking again. Any Ideas?

there are struts on the bottom of the drum and springs on top. may try replacing these but I think if you level it well and make sure the feet are tightened down well it should stay quiet. it the feet are not tightened well they will vibrate and come out of adjustment

Shakes in the front when I back off

Tighten the front wheel axle nut and the clamp nuts and bolts. Also check the headstock nuts and bolts for tightness. Make sure the front and rear wheel spokes are firm. Check the rear wheel axle and swing arm for looseness. Check the chain adjustment and make sure it is properly lubricated. Check both tires for condition and correct pressure. Has the bike had a front end accident?
