Your engine holds three quarts of oil, 20W50 petroleum or synthetic.

Your Primary holds about a quart of oil. Stand the bike straight up and fill up to the lower edge of the outer clutch basket through the derby cover access. Do not overfill or the clutch will drag. H-D primary and transmission lubricant.

Your Transmission holds 20-24 ounces of the same H-D primary and transmission lubricant. Stand the bike up straight, remove the plug from the chrome end on the right side of the transmission that takes a large hex key to remove. Level should be between the lines on the dipstick.

As for what brand of lubricant, there are many of them on the market that are sufficient to do the job. I stick with H-D lubricant for the primary and transmission. I like H-D, Mobil V-Twin, or Amsoil for the engine. Whatever brand you choose, check their website for suitability and their recommendations.

Good Luck
Steve

Add primary chain oil

See the big cover with 5 screws directly under the seat?
That accesses the clutch push rod adjustment, and oil can be added through there.

Just need to know how to change Engine, Transmission and Primary

There are two drain plugs on the bottom of the transmission. One is the engine oil and the other is the transmission. Drain the two oils from there. The primary oil drain is a small pipe plug underneath the lowest part of the primary drive cover.

The engine holds three quarts of oil, the transmission holds 20-24 ounces of oil, and the primary hold 36-42 ounces of oil. Fill the primary until the oil level is just to the bottom of the spring in the clutch assembly. If you get too much oil in the primary, the clutch will drag and you will be unable to find neutral with the engine running.

I am in the process of changing out my handle bars on my 07 Dyna Low Rider. I removed the clutch cover on the right side (battery side) of the bike to remove the clutch cable. My first question is; When I...

Put the gasket on dry and torque the 1/4" bolts to 7-9 foot pounds. Transmission takes 20-24 ounces of Syn3 20W50 oil or H-D semi-synthetic trans lub.

Good Luck.
