I have just bought a sprint rs with 27k on the clock. Runs fine but revs to high when you throttle off e.g. 2,200 revs when you pull the clutch in. If I select neutral, the revs drop down but once any gear is engaged and I move off I am back to 2,200 revs as a minimum. I have taken the aftermarket end can off and put the factory original back on but this has not helped. As you can imagine this makes the bike a pig to control in traffic. Can anybody help?

Hi, the problem lays with your side stand switch. This is designed to stop us riding off with the stand down. When the switch plays up the safety still works with the stand up. Try giving it a good clean and spray with WD40. It gets covered in crud from the chain lube.

SOURCE: clutch will not engage on trident 900
check that the actuator is releasing at the gearbox end!
as it could be loose or the shaft is binding up!
otherwise clutch needs stripping down & inspecting thrusts & friction plated for wear & burn marks[heat blueing] & that the metal plates are not warped!
also the pressure plate speings ma be week & all not equal tension
Cheers rob.

Make sure you have your stand up before you put it in gear. Some bikes have a stand switch that doesnt allow the bike to be in gear while the stand is down. This switch may have been damaged when the bike fell and now be malfunctioning.
