My 2008 gsxr 1000 starts when u pull the clutch lever only u do not need to push the ignition only pull the clutch to start the bike.

You need to loosen the adjustment at the inside of the lever as loose as you can, then use the slack in the cable to bring the holder down and out a small slot in the lever. You should not have to disconnect the cable at the transmission end but if you still find it impossible to remove, doing so will give you a bit of extra slack too.

Proper oil is very important to wet clutches.Check to see if the oil is proper.

this happens after they sit a while, get her started, get her rolling, put her in second gear, hold the clutch in, get her up to 20 miles an hour, hold a little throttle on and slam on the rear brake, this usually will free up the stuck friction plates. If not try it a couple of times, it has always worked for me, also if that does not work for you you have to take the side cover off of the engine (clutch side) and using a flat headed screwdriver, and a zip tie to hold the clutch lever back to the handle bar, place the screwdriver in between the clutch plates and gently pry them apart from each other, on your bike I believe you have 7 friction plates and 6 steel plates. ( if you have to remove the cover go get a gasket first).

go to this http://www.cmsnl.com/yamaha-rt1-19701971_model8356/partslist/A-09.html and then click on "view big image", this will give you a diagram of the clutch etc,, the adjustment (No. 26) may need looking at, or (No.11,12,) have broken.Basically you turn 26 in (clockwise) untill you feel light resistance then back off 1/2 turn (been years since i worked on one of these!) this should give you freeplay, have you just got the bike?, and do you think it has been stripped lately(ie the clutch).
