If your bike will fire with carb spray, you need a lot more than a simple adjustment. I suspect that you are not getting fuel to the carb. While you have the air filter off, look just inside the mouth of the carb and you'll see a small brass nozzle sticking up. With the engine OFF, twist the throttle grip to wide open throttle position. You should see a stream of fuel squirt into the carb. If not, you don't have any fuel in the carb or the diaphragm in the accelerator pump is bad. Next, pull the fuel line off the carb or the fuel petcock. Crank the engine over and watch the fuel flow from the fuel hose. If it's weak or none, your petcock is bad. In 1996, Harley went to a vacuum operated petcock and they give problems. The diaphragm in the fuel petcock will go bad and you'll have a full tank of fuel but none gets to the carb.

Good luck
Steve

98 harley fatboy turns over but wont start

some after market ignitions don't spark on the first couple of turns but first take off your air cleaner twist the throttle and look to see if gas is spraying in the carb if not give it a little starting fluid if it fires but then dies then its carb issue. now other thing to check is if you have three posts on your coil then its single fire and your plug wires might be going to the wrong spot switch um around.

My outboard wont start ive fixed the the ignition coils starter motor and spark plugs it gets spark but no fuel there is fuel getting there but just wont start tryed sparying fuel straight in the carbs but...

if you have spark and fuel it should atleast fire when you spray fuel in the carbs. if your spraying it just into the air intake it may not be making it to the intake manifold. have you checked the fuel pump? you also need to check for the possibility of a air leak in the fuel system causing the motor to fail to run because it has a very lean fuel mixture. check all fuel lines, fuel tank, couplers and carb gaskets. if you havent take the air intake cover off and try spraying some wd 40 or other mildly flammable product and see if the motor will fire that way. its likely the fuel tank or fuel lines are the problem from my point of view. good luck.

CRAFTMAN LEAF BLOWER WONT START

Fuel starvation - 'lean fuel' condition
Basic things to check:
1) spark plug
2) spark arrestor in muffler
3) fuel lines and tank filter
4) turn adjustment needles out (counterclockwise) 1/4 to 1/2 turn
Chain Saws:
5) check impulse tube and intake boot for cracks or leaks
*if all of the above are OK and/or do not improve performance then:
Remove Carburetor
6) replace gaskets/diaphragms
a) use a spray carb cleaner to clean jets, holes, and body of carb
b) fuel pump diaphragm goes against the carb body,
then the gasket towards the outside
c) metering gasket goes against the carb body,
and the diaphragm goes towards the outside

MTD yardman chipper wont start get spark need manual

I am successful too at using the starting fluid in the carb or directly into the clinder. That is how I start my MTD 5.5hp chipper. My problem is I have to hold down the primer bulb to keep it running. If not, the engine will stall.
