On most Dyna models, the battery tray raises and lower and simply traps the battery cover between the battery and the frame. Look on either side of the battery box. There may be some bolts on each side. There should be two bolts that "lock" the battery box and one that raises and lowers the box. You may have to remove the seat to get the cables off the battery or access the bolt that raises and lowers the battery. All my experience with the Dynas has been on 1999 and earlier models.

Good Luck
Steve

2002 fxd dyna super glide will not start battery is fully charged

Check the battery. Load test it. It sounds at first blush without more testing that your battery is dead/shot. However a bad ground or other bad cable, end, connection either loose or defective or corroded tec could be the problem also.

Battery removal 2002 dyna super glide, after seat removed.

Just inside the frame from the battery, there's a "jackbolt" that raises and lowers the battery tray. Turning the bolt counterclockwise lowers the battery tray and vice versa. You must loosen two bolts on the right side of the frame just behind the battery box between the battery box and the rear fender. Once the battery is lowered, you'll be able to get the top cover off and disconnect the battery cables. Disconnect the negative first when taking the battery out. Connect the negative last when installing the battery.

too many variables !
Firstly check battery under load ! any battery place or auto electrician can so it usually free!
do this before replacing any thing else!
make sure all connections are clean & tight
if battery is ok get them to check the charge rate on bike! its a simple test or you can do it with a volt meter they are only cheap to buy!

Change a stator

First secure the bike on a lift. disconnect battery.remove standard footpeg.Remove standard shifter. Remove all allen head bolts from outer primary cover. Some bolts are longer so keep track of where they go.Two bolts on the primary inspection cover also hold the outer to the inner primary case, so remove the cover. Now remove the outer primary case. The clutch, primary chain, adjuster, and compensating sprocket must be reoved as a single unit.Once you have done this take a rag and grasp the rotor and slide it off of the main engine shaft.Unplug the stator and remove the set screws holding it in place.Reverse procedure to install new stator.
