2008 Yamaha Royal Star Tour Deluxe Questions & Answers
Steering Problem
Steering neck bearings could be worn. Jack the bike up so that the front wheel is off the ground. Turn steering side to side, if it seems to stick in the middle,(in the riding straight position) then bearings need to be replaced.
Also check swing arm bolt is tight and axle bolts.
Handling problem
Check first your tyre pressures are correct. Check tyres are fitted facing the right way round, they normally have arrows showing direction of travel. Did you buy the bike like this or what was done prior to this happening? Also check wheel spindle bolts on front and rear wheels are correctly tightened. Also check tyres for ballooning(bulges) and any other damage. Also check the tyres are seated on the rim correctly. This is VERY SERIOUS, DO NOT RIDE the bike without resolving this as it may throw you and your passenger off the bike!!!! If you dont find the problem get professional advice ASAP. Good Luck
2008 RSTD. Supposedly 6gallon tank only gets 130
According to the Royal Star Spec Sheet,
It has 5.3 gallon tank and the "estimated" mileage is listed at 42 mpg. So let's be realistic and figure 35 mpg is more inline with reality... and if you're using 4 gallons it would be 135 miles , if you're using 5 it would be 175 miles. You'd want to have some reserve left so figure 4 gallons usable (before you need to fill it again). So the dealer's 4 gallon figure is in the ballpark. The 130 miles per tank, could be improved with how it's driven... but the mileage figures they publish.... I don't know of anyone who can achieve them... Hope this helps with your question. Have fun on that thing!

If old gas sat in the carb.s for more than a month it starts to dry up. As it drys up it leaves behind a varnish like film that stops up some very small ports and pin holes inside a motorcycle carburetor. It is also very hard to get out. You can try this before you pull the carb.s for a full cleaning. Use a product called Seafoam, get as much gas out of the carb.s as you can. use a turkey baster and force the seafoam into your carb.s fuel line that you took loose from the fuel tank. Let that set for days 1 or 2. then hook up the fuel tank with a mix of good gas and seafoam, (not a lot but enough to start it up. Move the cycle outside as the seafoam will make a lot of smoke if it does start up. If that does not clear up the problem you may have to pull the carb(s) and remove the blows to clean the inside. If you have to do that do not DO NOT MESS with any adjustment screws, DO NOT MESS with any adjustment screws. Just take the carb. bowl(s) off keep each one separate and number them so they do not get mixed up. do not mix up any internal parts. It is best to work on one at the time so nothing goes wrong. Work on a large sheet so if you drop a small part you can find it, you do not want to be missing some tiny spring or screw. Hope this Helps.
Where do you check the oil level on a 2008 royal
To check the oil level, look for a glass window on the right side of the crankcase marked for high (max) and low (min) levels. Get on hands and knees and look under the front crankcase cover directly beside the right operator's footrest; you'll probably need a flashlight to read it.
How do i change my air filer under the tank, 01 tour deluxe
The air filter, should actually be under the rider's seat. Key latch to remove the seat should be on the left side just below the seat and when you turn the key it will pop it up. Lift the seat out of the way and you should see the air filter right next to the battery. Hope this works out for you okay!
