I know this thread is 11 years old but im having this exact issue right now, any ideas as to what to try? Is the instrument dead or is there an false in the wiring, it worked sometimes before but now not at all..

Try going to MyWay or Google. Keep searching, ask in different ways sometimes new results will pop up depending on how the ? was asked

try cleaning the carb completely off the bike, make sure you take the jets out and clean them well.

What is your problem?

start off buy making sure the battery contacts are clean

Place the key in the ignition switched off. Press and HOLD both the select and reset buttons before turning the key to the on position. Now let go of both buttons and the on screen digits should start flashing. Now press select to toggle between kilometres and miles per hour.

join up and you'll get advice on this matter I think you mite need it looked at again and check your oil in the correct way as it maybe low!!! see you in the forum.

It turned out that the ignition key was faulty and it cut out my fuel pump and power to my spark plug but all other electrics worked. Tried my spare key and could hear fuel pump working pressed starter and it fired up how bizarre is that. so problem sorted.

Sparking due too loose fitting of the negative terminal to the chassis. Check all ground points of the wiring harness. The anchoring screw may be loose.

Right front of the engine is the dip stick. Check for online manuals. Manuals lib is free.

Sorry I do not have one but I suggest that you buy a service manual and you will get one that way for not too much money.
