Oil spills inside and outside air filter

This is probably nothing more than oil mist which has gathered, I believe it is part of the system to scavenge oil mist from the crankcase and it is routed to the air cleaner housing to be burned. Sometime at higher RPM's the system, marginal at best, is overcome and what you found is the result. There is really nothing to worry about, the system is working as it should. FWIW Harley Davidsons are notorious for doing this, and it is not uncommon to have the whole right hand side of the bike covered in oil after a fast ride.

Speedometer wont work and check

remove it from front wheel and spin it by hand. does speedo head show movement? reinstall making sure it slides into the square hole properly. recheck, if still not remove it from head assy and try to turn it (it shouldn't turn).
if it does problem is in front assy.

On a 06 yamaha vstar 650 i installed a new clutch

Clutch drive plates (usu. has friction pads and tabs on outer rim) alternate with Clutch driven plates that are smooth with teeth on inner rim. These slot into clutch "basket" and clutch hub. (the basket is driven via the crank and the hub drives the gearshafts) They are bound by the springs and endcaps bolted to the pressure plate in the basket. The plate movement or spread is negligable, 10-15mm spread over 13 plates. This spread is goverened by the actuating step gear thruster which cannot be adjusted.
The lever adjustment is for the amount a free play and the crankcase adjustment governs take-up spot; where resting lever returns the thruster. this can effectively allow the clutch to drive whilst having slack at lever, or vice versa.
Hope this is helpfull, Cheers.

How do you replace the handle bar grips?

with a very sharp knife, just slice the old ones off. With your new ones, put some soapy water inside them, and push them on, the water will dry up, and the grips will hold firm.

Charging problem

Hi
As the battery & regulator/rectifier have been replaced, the only other things to check are :-
Continuity from reg/rect red wire to battery & to earth, then check for continuity between each of the 3 yellow wires, all should be the same resistance - if not the stator coils in the alternator are faulty

Ride safe
